So I had my "the Void" OP event this past weekend in which I came second. I lost my final game mainly due to the title combo. It was so effective for the guy using it I know I'll be facing it again in the future so need some thoughts on possible counters, but to be honest I'm now really tempted to just copy it.
Basically turn three his drone moved into range of my fleet, hit my most expensive ship with the statis field, then was able to use the backup sequencer to immediately flip all of his shields back on. He was still left with the handy cap of having -2 attack dice for the round but using disruptor beams he still put 3 dice into me. Coupled with a 4 dice attack from the regents flagship (with another 4 at another of my ships) he took out my level 11 captain on a 48 point ship and it had absolutely no defence against it. Losing my shields I could have lived with, the fact I didn't get to shot either felt totally over powered.
Having to drop your own shields when using the statis field, leaving yourself vulnerable is the balancing mechanism for the card, the combo with the backup sequencer seems to break that.

So any thoughts, counters or should we all start running this?

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

High hull ships can soak it better, high agility builds can basically dodge the crap out of it.

I am curious to see how many Vorcha swarms backing Projected Stasis field become a thing, or using Quark and Kahn to hide a few...

It's a good combo. It does mean putting a minimum 37 points into a drone, but it is doable.

Here is something to keep in mind. The Backup Sequencer states it may be used "at any time". According to the FAQ and the tournament rules "at any time" means "any time between PHASES". Which is a huge difference and a lot of players and TOs forget or just don't know.

In this case he uses Projected Stasis Field in the activation phase and by the rules he can use Backup Sequencer in between the end of the activation phase and the start of the combat phase. So his shields MUST remain down through the activation phase.

The way you break this combo is simply by using any number of cards that disable or discard an enemy tech. Sabotage that came with the Gr'Oth is great for this. If you disable or discard his Backup Sequencer befor he can use them he is sitting out there with no shields at the mercy of your higher skill captains

It's time to go full Skeletor
