General idea here is to maximize the benefit of the new RoW. +1 FNP to my dudes in enemy deployment means 5+ FNP on Butchers, 3+ for Surlak's squad, and 4+ for the Apoth squad. Also, IWND on the characters too, which is nice. ~40 madmen with chainaxes, 11 Butchers for the kill factor, and Pods to get them there. The Kharybdis will zip around tossing down shots on whatever they can, while the Anvillus just zoom about doing not much (damn Crimson Path limits you to these, no regular Pods, which makes my wallet cry). The twin Fighters are my AA and anti-tank.

Pretty straight-forward, ideally fluffy while still semi-competitive (won't get rolled, basically).

Thoughts?!

Kharybdis are really expensive in points. Not sure it's worth it to have one extra Butcher. I'd probably drop the squad of 6 to 5, give them a Dreadclaw instead, and use the savings to put more bodies into your other tac squads where you can. Gets more attacks that way as well. Also FYI, Red Butchers, being Terminator armored, can take Dreadclaws as dedicated transports. This frees up a Fast Attack spot, but you don't seem to really need it here.

Which book is Gahlan Surlak in?

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

Ah, that's why I didn't know who he is, I don't have that book yet

Where do you see the dedicated transport Dreadclaw option for terminators? I have looked all over and can't find it.

Dreadclaw entry in the Crusade Army List, states it can be a stand alone FA choice or DT for any terminator armored unit of 5 models or less. The italic text at the bottom under Heat Blast.

Why the hell did they put that there of all places!? I see it now. Time to rework the list.

There we go. 5 Pods. ~60 Marines and 10 2W Terminators - all with FNP, plus characters with IWND. Kharybdis and Xiphon will keep the skies clear, while the the Xiphon will help with any anti-tank work, too. Though I may consider going back to the dual Lightnings depending on what I expect to see. If I see loads of Spartans, it probably would be smart to have the Kraken rounds to ensure I get the most bang for the buck when they come in. To do that, I would just have to find like 115pt somewhere or just downgrade the Xiphon and use the extra points on... something. Anyhow! Like all World Eaters lists should be, this is straight-forward. Get in, kill gak, and there you go. The boosted FNP while in enemy deployment should really add some mileage onto the army. Surlak's squad sporting a 3+ FNP, for instance, will really be something to deal with. My big concern is mobility, but I guess if I am feeling crazy, I can load back up into the pods and go elsewhere, though I am not sure how strategically sound that is.

Thoughts?

I like it. Usually I run Kharn with Surlak so he gets the benefits of the 3+++, an Apothecary with a regular squad for the 4+, then the Inductii I think have a 4+ or 5+ by themselves, I forget. It's certainly a great amount of Marines, definitely more than my 3000 pt. Then again, mine has Angron and Dreadnoughts. It'd be neat to put those against each other, just mad butchery everywhere.

It is interesting, after doing some reading on it. I have been using my Primus Medicae with the new rules for WE Apothecaries, but have not put much thought into new WE Rite of War (Big Berzerkers Assault fan.).

I like the list, lots of infantry units. I run two fifteen marine Tacticals, a fifteen marine Breacher and a ten marine Destroyer. I have always wanted to use Red Butchers, but found them to be expensive points wise. Have you used them a lot?

Nope, but 2W with 2+/4++ and 5+ FNP should be solid. Loads of attacks, chain fist for killing armor, AP2 axes and claws to hit at Initiative. I think they will be two heavy bludgeon units. Plus, awesome models!

Red Butchers are my favorite, personally. I've only played a few games with them, but in one I managed to drop them in a Dreadclaw and kill a phosphex Rapier battery before they could do any real damage. Guy had the max amount of crew (9 I think for 3 guns?) and they were wiped in a single round. Then they got blasted by power fists...worth it.

I was just reading up on the Crimson path RoW and I don't think you can have red butchers. They wear catafractii armour which gives them the slow and purposeful special rule. The limitations of the Crimson path says no units with the slow and purposeful special rule can be taken.

(Sorry)

Cataphractii don't have S&P in 30k. They were updated in the new FAQ to reflect that.
