I began 30K a few months ago with the help of the BaC package trying to find a fluff and effective AL list.

But in 1500pts, it's difficult to have something effective with the Hydra RoW...

I think you should not split up the army and give your opponent the piecemeal. If you do, you need to hope you outflank on the side closes to you units moving up the middle. Otherwise, a good tactician will evade and poke. Widdling down the closer of the two and then leaving you half dead in the water and out of range.

I actually like this list a lot and I usually hate lists on here. About the only real suggestion I have, is if you feel like you're lacking anti-vehicle firepower, turn that BaC dread into a kheres mortis and splash him in in place of the tanks (and use the extra points to pad out your terminators / tacticals).

Let's say the classic Kheres / DCCW one?

Indeed, I'm still not fully convinced by Tactical CCW while their main role is to tarpit others (both Sergent and Praetor to kill stuff if needed).

1) the cortus is fun, but it's stupidly cheap as well compared to other contemptors, you shouldn't have to drop too much to take one.
2) you would be surprised how much a large squad with extra CCWs can do. Against terminators, for example, a charging 20-man squad with CCWs has 60 attacks, 30 hits, and 15 wounds before saves (assuming the sergeant has no special AP: 2 weapons). their bolters against the same squad is 40 shots (rapid range),~26 hits, and ~13 wounds before saves.

Well, if you're trying to just build the contemptor as is, without acquiring extra bits, then yeah, give it a shot as a cortus. I love my dual ccw cortus, personally. Not too sure how a shooty cortus would fare. On one hand, when taking shots to its front armor, its defense is identical to a normal contemptor, but on the other hand you're down to BS4. Also, I usually overcharge my cortus to run faster on the first turn (meaning no shooting) and then do the extra move / charge distance thing on my second turn.
If you can get an extra arm, I think specializing your dread is a better idea, but if not, using him as a cortus to keep things cheap and upgrading him to a regular contemptor for games where you can spare the 40 points would be a fine option.

As for gearing your tacticals for hand to hand, I'm a blood angel player and I don't even do that. I've been very underwhelmed with my tacticals so far, but I seem to be in the minority about that. Your tacticals have that sweet inviolate armor rule that makes them much more resilient to small arms fire. Personally I'd save the points and use them to engage in short range firefights.

I really like the idea of Cortus Brothers!

If I leave my Tactical additional CCW and both my Predators I can get 2 Cortus, to run across the board or to outflank if needed (with Autosimulacra to resist a bit more).

Still the equipment choice : Dual DCCW or Multi Melta and DCCW?

Both solution will leave me with 10-15pts to spare...

Ideas?
