So the list is kept in an msu theme to make the most out for the formation. Hopefully between the plasma chosen and havocs I should be able to activate it with some reliability.
Targeting light vehicles/transports with the havocs early on and later on, units should be softened up enough to still benefit. The chosen and bikers (with Lord) would probably try to drive up the board alongside the maulerfiend.
Though if a target presents itself, the chosen could get out and use the rhino as a shield, and/or they could just sit tight and let the opponent come to me, they shoot up to 24 inch after all. Whatever happens to be more appropriate.

Turn two I deepstrike the terminators with the sorcerer and the helblades come on for anti air or softening up units to finish off with some havocs. The sorc is using a jump pack, because I didn't have enough points left for actual termie armour.
I could drop the gift on the lord, but I'm not sure the termie armour is really needed and the gift goes well with the formation bonus.The jump pack also has the added bonus of being able to better place the yuranthos nova in later turns, should he survive deepstriking.
I'd probably go for malefic and trade for the primaris and roll the rest on telepathy, hoping for terrify and/or invisibility, although fiery form is also tempting. The daemons give me something to cast when the nova would be a waste and also allow me to fulfill the BL mission card. So he would either summon some daemons or blast stuff with yuranthos with a 12 inch bubble which is relatively safe to cast. I'd be casting both on 5 dice to reduce the risk of perils.
Although against another msu list it might be worth going all the way and cast it with 18 inch. I've managed to get my points back in a single manifestation like that before. Though that was both msu and heavy on summoning stuff so I got lucky.

The list is brimming with high strength guns, and there is little bit for every kind of target, but any losses will hurt bad. I don't really have any ablative wounds anywhere.
Not so much for a competitive game, but I think it would do ok in a more casual settining. Every other game my lord turns into a prince or spawn, so I know he's gonna like the mutations, and I'm secretly hoping for a strength 8 plasma gun chosen champion

Maybe swap up the CAD to be a crimson slaughter CAD. Give the sorcerer the balestar so he can roll divination.
You're going to losing valuable guns every time you take any losses, so may be best to get as much out of them while they are still alive as possible.... Prescience on plasma chosen or autocannon havocs can be pretty awesome!

I'd loose a lot of anti horde/msu by loosing yuranthos and I would loose a psychic die.
In return I can make a single unit fire better. Which helps with triggering that formation bonus.
There would be no point to adding the sorc with the termies and he wouldn't need the jump pack so I'd save a few points. I could switch yuranthos with the balestar and daemonheart to tank the odd wound maybe. Or maybe a claw on a the bike.
I'd even have points for a melta bomb.

I think you're right, it would be better overall.
But I can't NOT take yuranthos whenever I add a sorc to a list lol. And I get to stay full Black Legion.
So for me personally the sorc is staying heh, but thanks for the input.

How do think the list would perform assuming the balestar sorc? I've never actually played with or against MSU lists. Not exactly experienced on the topic.
I get a feeling the firepower doesn't compensate for the amount of models. Feels like I should have more units if this was to to work reliably.
