So, I was at a local used bookstore, and saw a boxed board game called Dune for $40. It was made by Parker Brothers, and I ma guessing it came out when David Lynch's movie did.
Any of you lot ever played, and is it worth the $40? I really, really have an unholy love for the David Lynch film.

Not very well rated, but from the reviews on BGG it appears to have it's share of supporters.

The Avalon Hill game of Dune is very good though.
I dont know who makes it now, if anyone.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

If you can't buy the Avalon Hill version (which is miles better than the one pictured above), there are multiple versions on Boardgamegeek that can be done as a "Print 'n Play (not for the faint of heart, though) and the FFG game Rex: Final Days of an Empire is a simple retheme of the Dune game as noone can get the rights for Dune anything from the Herbert family- even if it's just printing old stuff.

I have it, and frankly it's not terribly good. Lots of moving on a circular track and could easily be done without any Dune references or material (it's quite generic).
AH's one is awesome, of course.
If you are a Dune freak (like me), do periodic searches on eBay to find it cheaper. They do come up once in a while. But, you can definately wait; as a game, it's not so good.
Even as a Dune fan, I'd say it's worth maybe $15 tops, just for the novelty of it.

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the particulate. |
