I just picked up some Munitorum Armoured Containers and they are quite nice terrain with some very interesting rules. For those who dont know its 4 ammo crates, 3 promethium barrels, and 1 container for the price of one assault terminator. The barrels turn your flamers into heavy torrent flamers, and the ammo crates let you reroll 1s to shoot (on any model within 2" for both) and the container does something random like 4++ in 6", +1 LD for imperial armies, +1s to weapons, or a genestealer eats part of your squad and 2 storm bolters that can be fired by a model in base contact. So for a relatively small price you can really up your arsenal and make some units more reliable or powerful. The only limiting factor on the whole thing is it has to be placed "wholly within 12" of each other" which I assume

My initial thought right now is to park a whole bunch of Platoon command squads loaded with flamers to make them torrent (and to really really dissuade drop pods), have a CCS parked behind the container for a BS 4 storm bolter fun and a possible 4++ to save them. and to add precisely placed ammo crates around my heavy weapon teams to really maximize their shooting.

What would you guys do to abuse these new rules?

...I don't suppose simulating that Battlefield 3 shipping yard map and getting your opponent's entire army eaten by Genestealers turn one counts.

Peregrine - If you like the army buy it, and don't worry about what one random person on the internet thinks.

Deploy a Dark Artisan formation on top of them, and use Geomancy to shoot the crates across the table and get a Moonshot turn 1 assault?

Although, more realistically: Eldar Corsairs can take advantage of the fuel barrels pretty nicely. They can take 2 flamers each in a 5 man troop squad, which can have Jet Packs. IN ADDITION, the same squads can shoot and move thanks to Reckless Abandon (so you can move up, Torrent away because you're Relentless, then scoot in the shooting phase, plus an additional move in the assault phase to get out of range for retaliation.

The containers themselves work amazingly as los blocking and (depending on how your group handles moving up and down terrain) excellent ways to force assault based armies where you want them to go. Could build little bunkers out of them to hide units or provide decent cover to tanks while still allowing them to fire.

Sisters of Battle Retributor Squads with Heavy Flamers - they can get two turns of Rending on their weapons (3 if you put Uriah Jacobus in the squad), so that could be fun.

can they be deployed anywhere? they aren't a fortification
right so it shouldn't just be in your deployment zones.

I like the idea of doing a double stormsurge list with many crisis suits instead of the riptide wing.

They are able to get behind this debris and out of los with jsj and still fire all their weapons. They are also able to get on whatever side of the crate they want which is big.

The way this changes the stormsurge list is big I think. All of a sudden they don't have a low model count army and can control objectives/the board in general.

Renegades artillery also comes to mind. I think in general though the aegis does stationary artillery better though.

hey what time is it?

They are fortifications.

Essentially they are a wall with, 2 storm bolters, promethium barrels, and ammo crate upgrades.

The Barrels can blow up and kill the model behind them, so I'm not crazy about them, but making your flamers heavy, instead of assault, and adding torrent is great for any army that already relies on using flamers.

The crates let you re-roll 1's. What's not to love about that ?

Since they have Toughness and wounds, they can be blown up. That's not Earth shattering, but it does make them a little more vulnerable than let's say, a bunker.

You can get 3 of them in 1 fortifications slot.

The rolling to see what's inside them, only occurs when you are using them as terrain, and not as a purchased fortification

Basically set up my LAN formation in it with a venomthrope. Or somehive guard, maybe both if I can set it up right. Anything that does not require LOS+the veno will be as hidden as possible then warriors and thrope can fire storm bolters and everything else can drop the pie plates

Spoiler:

The table is used at all times for when they are deployed; they just have an "additional rule" in that if you use them as Mysterious Objectives? That table replaces the Mysterious Objective rule.

For fun, I'd use it for my Tau Crisis Suits that are armed with dual flamers. Mobile with Torrent flamers and fairly cheap units.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

I'm already building an Ork Themed Armored Storage Container to use as an upgrade whenever I field Burna Boyz.

Put it on the edge of the deployment zone and hide the Burna Boyz behind it until something gets too close then stack all those flamer templates on them courtesy of torrent.
Anyone who burns the heavy weapon fire to chew through the armored container is doing me a favor, as that much fire power would have mulched the Burna Boyz, or another unit, in the first place.

Build a sort of castle with the containers, and plonk my Kataphron Destroyers with Cognis Flamers inside, next to the barrels.
