Hi guys I was wondering if someone could help me with building a vet squad to work in with my iron warriors, since I already have a lot of shooty stuff I'm not really sure what to do with them, but I would like to use a vet squad. Thanks

I use mine as objective takers and holders in a rhino with 2 heavy bolters and Sniper. You could accomplish something nasty as well with heavy flamers instead of the HBs.

Vets really are your toolbox unit though. You can gear them for assault and have them outflank. That could add some maneuver to your gun line.

Personally I find gun lines boring as hell to play so I prefer my army to be a plodding forward army with mobile heavy firepower rather than static gun units. A moving wall of fire. So my uses of vet squads might not meld well with what you are doing.

Maybe kit them for brawling rather than lugging anything heavy? I know the shrapnel rounds can be useful sometimes, but maybe get the CCW or give them power weapons along with melta bombs for a unit for horsing the enemy off objectives rather than just for sitting on them.

My plan was to give them all power weapons and have HBs rather than missile launchers with the sergeant having a power fist. How does that sound for an 'in your face' type of unit?

remember: just like heavy bolters, missile launchers can take suspensor webs as well on vet. squad

Oh I knew that, it's just that with iron havocs (all w/. MLs) and Tyrant sieges I didn't think I needed more missiles

Sniper HBs with Shrapnel is just as scary on melee units as it is on ranged, because who cares about disordered charges (Thank you Hammer of Olympia!) when you pin the guys your charging with a flurry of Rending/Pinning shots?

Wow.. I can believe someone had to point out that vets could have suspensor webs for me to notice it, I'm such a derp. The sniper shrapnel HB sound just nasty, I definitely what to try it.
