Hey all, I'm just starting up Skitarii and I'm having a tough time finding extra special weapons for them. I have a unit of Rangers and one of Vanguard so far but with just 2 boxes there's no way I'll be able to give them enough special weapons to fill the slots. How does one get around this? Convert? Is there a FW bits pack I seem to have missed? I'm a tad frustrated with it as even going inefficient and doing a squad of 10 each I can only build 2 of the same specials. Do most people just buy a gak load of boxes and discard the actual models they don't need?

Yes, the whole "GW restricting special weapons" thing is idiotic. What I do is buy three boxes, build one squad of Vanguard with 3 Plasma Calivers, one squad of Vanguard with 3 Arc Rifles, and one squad of vanilla Vanguard or Rangers. I'm sure you could find extra special weapons on eBay.
Never discard models. Vanguard with no special weapons are still decent.

Convert from other kits works. I wanted more Transuranic Arqubuses so badly I built 2 from scratch with various bitz and plastic pipes.


As for weapons such as the plasma calviers and ARc rifles. strapping tubes and such to standard plasma guns should suffice and the arc rifles design is such a way that I can imagine modifying a lasgun with sprue and other bitz could function adequately.





I also have about 5 skitarii themselves cobbled together from left over Tempestus body parts with heads from the Onager crew and left over heads from the other two squads of troops.

Its a pain but getting additional special weapons for skitarii can be done.
