Is it a good choice for a flyer? If so what kit should I give it

storm eagles are a fluff commitment.
There are 'better' flyers than it for tank hunting (xiphon intterceptor) or infantry removal (fire raptor) and 'crash and burn' makes for a risky transport for 20 man squads along with the vulnerability of being a valid target for everything when it has disembarked it's troops.

Those things accepted, it looks fething cool, PoTMS allows firing the vengeance launcher every time regardless of jink, you can fit a full tactical squad in it and most importantly - You get to put on 'ride of the valkyrie' when bringing it on. (loudness determined by number of storm eagles coming on at once)

Air-Cav always has the best theme music.

I tend to kit mine very expensively: TL lascannons on the wings, TL multi-melta on the front so it can do some basic anti-tank stuff and lay two large templates on a seperate infantry unit at the same time.

They are awesome but in my experience the expense means go big or leave at home, pimp that ride!

Ahah sorry dude, but if you read 1d4chan at all, the storm eagle has a theme song, and it is this:

That stated, go for it! I don't own one, and I don't know what your meta is like, but AA is really uncommon in mine so my storm raven always murders in 40k, and my fire raptor always murders in 40 and 30k, so I feel like a storm eagle would really really work well. I've literally never lost a flyer before making a disembark, so you should be able to deliver your cargo right into assault almost every time. Armor 12, 4HP, + a jink save is super durable in 30k (and thanks to power of the machine spirit, you can jink pretty liberally). Go for it!

Thanks to the BaC box, mortis-contemptors are common round my way and my storm eagles really suffer.

If we're getting into thrash metal then 'the seatbelts - live in baghdad' pwns...
