I'm organizing a new tournament that is set to take place on the 21st and 22nd of October of this year. Army composition is 2000 points and as it stands right now we are clearing $1000 of prize support and climbing. The goal is to turn this into a national
GT for Kings of War here in the Intermountain West of the US. The location is in Rexburg,
ID (a little remote, sure, but it's a fairly short drive from the airport) and there are 14 positions open for this, the inaugural year of the tournament. Entrance fee is $30, but this provides you with a grab bag full of goodies as well as the chance to win some great prizes! There are four areas of the tournament in which to compete:
1. Best Tactician: This is the player who does the best in the scenarios and scores the most battle points by achieving objectives and routing enemy troops. The player who wins this will walk away with an Abyssal Dwarf Army.
2. Best Dressed: This one is all about the looks, the painting, theme, and modelling specialty of each army. So bring your prettiest warriors and show them off for a chance to win a 2 player starter set!
3. Players' Choice: All players will have a chance to nominate their favorite player at the tournament and he or she who receives the most votes will also win a 2 player starter set!
4. Best Overall: The player who receives the best average score between the three other areas will also receive a deluxe edition rulebook of Kings of War (The hardback one) as well as the expansion Uncharted Empires. Along with this there is a as of yet undecided additional prize to be added to the mix (I've been looking at adding a big Mierce Miniatures beastie, unless I can find something bigger and/or cooler to add)
On top of all this there will be door prizes given out via raffle with prizes ranging from $15-$100 or more, and every player should walk away with at least one door prize, most will take more.
There will be four battles played out over the two days. On Friday evening will be an optional bout that can be used to replace one score from the three mandatory bouts played on Saturday. There are three scenarios (Loot, Pillage, and Invade) with some slight variations for the tournament to keep things interesting.
Come on out to an emerging yet vibrant player scene and get to know some newer players in the area. If you have any questions you can email me at
