Hi all,
I had an old set of FW MK6 marines, and after a break from painting I thought I'd throw a few of these together to get my eye back in. I'm aiming for an RTB01 style to them. So far I've tweaked the bolter so that the clip moves more to the front of the gun (as we had on the original sprue) and to add a little extra nostalgia I've added on of the accessories from the original RTB01 kit.
Unfortunately I've lost the right hand shoulder pad, so I've trimmed down a plastic MK7 pad as a proxy. I'm hoping to grab one of the new FW MK6 kits shortly to compare the two.

He’s standing too upright be be an RTB01

Looks good! A bit ago I made some full suits of mk. VI armor to swap in some new options into an old RT squad. They do stand out a bit, but not so much that they are out of place. That’s just with the tac squad box, no need to head over to FW.

But it’s always nice to see the classic beakie look getting some love. What chapter will they belong to?

They'll be Crimson Fists, I've got the 25th and 30th Anniversary figures to add to the collection, which was part of the motivation behind it

Well he's finished. It was going reasonably well, until I discovered that the Humbrol decal fix reacts with the matt varnish (my first time using this varnish), and caused it to bubble.
The correct approach would probably have been to strip the shoulder pad and repaint, but instead I decided to turn it into battle damage. I'm still working on the 25th anniversary model and if I get a similar issue there I'll strip and repaint, but aside from the set back I'm reasonably happy with the result.

Nice.

My one issue is the helmet. You painted the sensor/whatever it is red, but didn’t give him a helmet stripe. Doing both would be a little much, but you can’t be properly retro without a good helmet stripe.

IMHO, YMMV, etc.
