Been Around the Block

Hey guys,

Playing Total War Warhammer has reinvigorated me to get into AoS, especially since my local GW is doing really well with it. When I first picked it up the butthurt was that strong I had no one to play with it!

I am, however, torn between a few potential armies and need your help! Here's my thoughts:

Freeguild/Iron Arsenal - I love lines of Handgunners and Great Cannons, with probably a Steam Tank or two thrown in as well. Is using nothing but Handgunners to form your "core" or line (a la Napoleonic era warfare) feasible in AoS?

Clan Skryre - Stormfiends with Ratling Cannons and Warpfire Throwers along with a big block of Stormvermin for the core. What else would you use to keep it very warp-techy? Which Verminlord is the best fit for Skryre? Plenty of Warp Lightning Cannons sounds like fun too!

Stormcast Eternals - I love the Knight Venator and the Judicators. Are Judicators acceptable to use as your line infantry with Dracoth riders or Paladins as your heavy hitters?

I am even tempted by the new Life realm models!

I look forward to hearing what you all think.

Thanks.

Freeguild/iron Aresenal. Sounds a lot more fun plus you can take dwarf cannons as well. Well I don't know if hand gunners are core but you should have no problem satisfying the batteline via the infantry unit well if you are playing points that is. I feel having some infantry to protect the gun line will be important and the formation you set them up in. Since we are still in a magical world where monsters can charge half way across the battle field. *looks at orruks*

After I finish up Death I am planning to do a sigmarite army with devoted of sigmar making the bulk then adding some stormcast to take on the big foes.

Anything is "acceptable" depending on what your local scene likes regarding comp or whatever.

Judicators are good, probably my favourite basic SC unit.
Arm them with crossbows and whilst they don't have the range of the bows they are brutal at close range, and just as survivable as Liberators without shields.
Just remember if you're using the special weapons that the multi-shot bow works best on a prime, while the plasma gun (MW bow) is more efficient on a normal trooper as it doesn't gain any benefit from the prime.
