Nervous Hellblaster Crewman

Netherlands

Hi there,

My goal is to expand my current army of Free peoples, in which i have the following:

1 Valten
1 Master engineer

1 Helblaster volley gun
1 Mortar

5 Outriders

My plan was to field the following:

5 Outriders (10) To protect my warmachine crew, and apply pressure on flanks.
1 Master engineer (5) To upgrade my warmachines
1 Helblaster (7 with crew) to deal with monsters and bigger units
1 Mortar (7 with crew) ditto.

Which brings me to a total of 29 wounds.

As i don't like the militia from the Free peoples, my thought was to bring some
better saves and harder hitting units to hold ground.

10 Hammerers, as they have good saves and are general better warriors (10)
1 runelord for better bravery (5)

i still have 5 wounds left to play with, or i can remove an warmachine and include another unit
of dispossessed.

Any tips?

It depends on what your goal is for the dispossessed unit. If it is supposed to fill a defensive role, i would strongly suggest getting iron breakers instead of hammerers. The ability to reroll saves and ignore rend of -1 makes them significantly more sturdy and more than makes up for the lower damage they will put out. If you want them to be damage dealers, hammerers are good and the runelord can bring them to -2 rend which is really good. For those extra 5 wounds i would recommend: a warden king (good hero in general and can also help increase dispossessed bravery even when not the general), second runelord (the increased rend can stack), or any wizard because wizards in AoS are pretty versatile and valuable (and mortal wounds can be hard to have access to without wizards)
