Just picked up a box of Varanguard for a great price and excited to build them. I'm thinking the Daemonforged Blades would be really fun to play, but are they the best competitively? Either the Fellspears or these, but I can't decide.

I would personally go with Ensorcelled Weapons to be honest.

The ability to wound 2/3s of the time compared to the Daemon Blades' 1/2 unsupported is the main thing for me.

You essentially exchange the gimmick of an extra mortal wound for two more attacks that aren't exactly hard to hit and wound with. And those extra attacks pile up when you activate their double attacks buff.

I never thought of it that way, good thinking! I think I'll build them with the Daemonforged Blades and just switch between saying they have them or Ensorcelled when I'm playing more serious. Thanks!

I would say the fell spear is by far the best, especially when combined with their relentless killers ability (activate it on a turn they charge). And if you have Archaon and a Lord Of Slaneesh you can have them pile in a 3rd time too.

I say fell spears when you have more than 4 in the same unit, and Ensorcelled weapons smaller units. Deamonforged blades aren't that good.
