Hello dakka,

Anyone on here play VTES? My collection ballooned during college, but in the post school working life the game has fallen off with our group. Looking to make a cube to slim down the collection.

Anyone try this? Ideas!? Or just enthusiasm for the game.

I played a bit back in the day, and still have shelves of cards.

Not sure what you mean by a “cube”

IIRC I kept 5 of any card, with maybe 10 of the more critical ones that would be needed in more then one deck. Don’t recall what the official number per deck was, didn’t think there was one at the time.

And only one of each vampire.

So a cube is something that MTG players are doing (me included). It's essential a pool of cards that you build booster packs from for sealed or draft. It's like a custom sealed display that you can draft forever.

Interesting concept. Do you care about rarity?

Not sure how well Jyhad would draft. Would you include vampires in the mix? Do them separate? A lot of the finer points of what to include would depend on your rules.

If you wanted to cut things down to something reasonable, I would probably keep with the core camerilla vampires and basic disciplines. If not, you end up with wayyyyy to many specialized powers that can only be used by one faction. Not that you need to just keep cards from the core set, but I’d avoid a lot of the corner cases. If you wanted to broaden things out, I might include the sabbat anti-clans, but not necessarily the unique ones. That way you are still sticking with mostly the core disciplines, but get more factions.

If working up a set for a draft format, I might weigh the collection a little heavier with non-discipline cards. It’s one thing in a M:tG draft where you can add basic land as needed, but harder with vampires. Unless you wanted to include the master discipline cards as needed after the draft.

I don’t play much cards these days, so can’t offer a lot of specific advice. Just general ideas. Good luck.
