I've been on the perverbial cliff looking down at the almighty warhammer plunge for quite awhile.

Picking up the Dark vengeance starter set shortly, and I'll probably have all sorts of 'stupid' questions to post very soon too!

My main interest is the modelling, main interest in the Space Marines, and orks, hopefully a very large amount of custom/scratch/modified in my future.

my background is mechanics and fabrication until recently, work related injuries to my hand/arms has moved my career/intrests more to the 3D modelled side of things as I can't 'scratch' build in the traditional sense anymore. Which means, yes I have one of the 'evil' 3d printers (actually awaiting the arrival of a second) ... NO I am not trying to overthrow GW or cheaply reproduce replicas of their work, just making my own modifications or versions where applicable (more specifically for the orks! )

I like weird and oddball... I'm one of those people that want do a ork pirate army with a 'rebel grot' detachment that fits the current rules. I would love to eventual mod a space marine army into an oldschool Starcraft army. Or even later take a shot at a Tau army all done ala macross, and yeah I'm pretty sure it's all pretty much already been done

While I most of my goals are looks and such, I still want to be able to play said forces occasionally should the opportunity arise

so while I have your attention... first stupid question...

what are the current accepted books (GW, FW, supplement and codexes) for playing info for:
-Space marines
-Orks

I also 'assume' the current SM codex has information on the different chapters once picking my perfered chapter go find the supplimental 'codex'

the books I have on my list to find are :
- rulebook (duh)
- SM codex
- Ork codex
- IA 8 (is there a newer one? )
- IA aero
- IA apocalypse (3rd?)
- GW apocalypse (6th?) ?
- IA Navy ?

one of those silly people that wants to build a Ork pirate army, and a rebel grot army.

and I'm starting by taking a Dark vengeance set, and a betrayal at Calth set and converting them into Iron Hands.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

IceAngel wrote:I must say Knightley, I am very envious of your squiggle ability. I mean, if squiggles were a tactical squad, you'd be the sergeant. If squiggles were an HQ, you'd be the special character. If squiggles were a way of life, you'd be Doctor Phil...

think I'm going Iron Hands , might be falling off the deep end a bit over it LOL
