Basaliskia

Hi guys, long term reader here but this is my first post, (made a new account for that reason) ever since I started my necrons back in 2009 I've always wanted to create a narrative around them and for a while I did, but then the 'new-crons' codex hit and that opened a lot of good story writing opportunities for me while changing a lot of the lore , however I used that to forward the narrative in a very in universe way (I try to keep things quite in universe, no hello kitty necrons or anything like that) so since then till now I've been working on the complete background for my homebrew Necron Dynasty and its characters (just charcter bios no stats lines just yet) it includes the lore for the dynasty before the war in heaven, during the war, post war and post awakening it's long and probably boring but any criticism or comments good or bad are welcomed so without further rabling...

Here's the history of the Skhilith Dynasty

THE TIME OF FLESH

Long before the tranfiguration of the Necrontyr, the people of the Skhilith Dynasty where vastly militarized, In there short lives they would improve on the teachings of there father's to pass it on to there sons and so on and so forth. The Dynasty was vastly respected if not slightly feared by the surrounding dynasties for there militaristic discipline and honourable way of both diplomacy and war.

The Royal Court was always comprised of veterans of war, the most extravagant of scientists and tacticians, the most feared warriors and the most powerful of men. In the events that where to occur leading up to and following the C'tan's discovery, Crypteks and Overlords of all ranks from Dynasties all around would come to seek use of their experimental weapons, scientific resources and even loan of the dynasties soldiers, though this was rare and the price for this high many neighboring Phaerons saw their investments worthwhile and no cost too high for the Skhilith elite.

HONOURABLE REPLACEMENT

Shortly before the C'tan where discovered, the Skhilith where in a time of grieving. Their beloved Phaeron Zsorvekh the wise had passed of the natural ravages that plagued the Necrontyr species, and it was up to the Royal Court to elect who was to lead the Dynasty in his place, however, their choice would forever change the face of the dynasty and nothing would be the same.

Prrmakh was a Lord who sat amongst the Royal Court and was seen as a trustworthy and wise man with only the best intentions for his Dynasty, he was always a voice of diplomacy and reason in the Dynasties dark days and his council was always sought by his fellow lords, even Zsorvekh himself trusted Prrmakh's words in difficult times. The Royal Court cast their vote ,as was custom amongst the Dynasty, and the result was almost unanimous, Prrmakh would lead the people of Skhilith, and the people praised the Courts decision in turn. However traits of the man they trusted would begin to reveal themselves and a stain would be brought upon the honour of the Dynasty, truly the darkest days where upon them.

HONOUR STAINED

It had only been 3 solar years on the Crownworld since the new Phaeron took leadership and the way of the Skhilith had already drastically changed, less and less battles where being fought until the dynasty had fully taken a backseat in the ongoing conflicts, the scientific advances of the crypteks and the loaning of precious assets had come to a sudden stop, causing outrage with neighboring dynasties that already had pacts and agreements with the Skhilith, these outrages caused many Dynasties to discard the Skhilith entirely never to speak with them again severing all ties, and In turn the Skhilith fell into stagnancy, no progress was being made in any field, soldiers became restless, scientists became irrelevant and the Royal Court became increasing concerned with what was happening to there beloved Dynasty.

Prrmakh The Stale, as he would be known in hushed tones thoughout the Dynasty, was undoing all the great work his predecessors had strived for and died for and was bringing about a time of weakness with his new found power and his long hidden cowardice.

But there was another member of the Royal Court who the Dynasty saw as perhaps their answer, Ibrahim was a powerful warrior second only to the late Zsorvekh himself, he believed in the pursuit of scientific advancment, the perfection of his soldiers and most importantly he believed in the path that was set by his former master and closest friend, a path that was cast asside by the coward now in power. Internally Ibrahim's hate grew and festered however he knew his emotions must not show, not yet, he would continue to lead the armies of the Skhilith in the very few engagments he was given to lead, as he waited for the perfect time to enact his plan, but unknowing to him that time was sooner than expected.

THE TIME OF METAL

The C'tan discovered! Immortality and strength given to the Necrontyr, and the tranformation of the Silent Kings people was underway, yet Prrmakh refused this gift and refused it on behalf of his people, his cowardice finally broke the angered Ibrahim and his depature for the transformation was long overdue.

The Royal Court was in session, the Phaeron sat quietly as the Lords and Crypteks argued before him, Ibrahim's seat was empty, and Prrmakh was so fixated on this he didn't notice that the room had fell silent, stood before the Royal Court was a figure clad in living metal, a single green eye stared across the room to the seat Zsorvekh had once called his own and there was seated the coward the figure was looking for. It stepped forward, slowly, towards the Phaeron, it stood before him. "Who are you" the Phaeron spoke with a tremor that could shake world's, he knew who it was but he refused to belive it. "I am what our people deserve, I am what our people will become". The voice was that of Ibrahim, however cold and distoted, it shook the Phaeron to the core. The figure turned to the Royal Court, "I stand before you as testament to what Zsorvekh belived we could become, and with my new power I, Ibrahim of Skhilith, will contest you ,Prrmakh of Skhilith, for the postion of Phaeron in honourable combat as decreed by the traditions of our Dynasty... if you even remember such a thing". The Phaeron stood from his chair, his sword in hand "I remember..." he uttered beneath his breath "I accept your proposal..." The centre of the room cleared the Royal Court taking their place by the walls, a safe distance away from the coming battle but close enough to view the outcome. Materialising in Ibrahim's hand was a large warsythe, taking an atheistic not unlike the nightbringers own weapon, energies warping across its surface, with one of his gauntlets he spew forth eldritch lightning towards Prrmakh, dropping to the ground he dodged the blast, destroying the throne behind him, rolling forward he lunged at the metal terror but was disarmed by the large warsythe's blade, falling to the ground already wounded, Prrmakh knew he had no chance, he reached for his blade regardless but it was snatched from him seemingly by the air itself as he looked up he saw it fly to Ibrahim's hand, but he noticed something, Zsorvekh's gauntlets, the former Phaerons personal weapons has become Ibrahim's arms, "my power is unlimited, and your weapon... useless" the sword in Ibrahim's grasp began to dissolve and corrode till it became a rusted husk, it fell to the ground bursting into dust, with his free hand Ibrahim grabbed and lifted Prrmakh by the neck holding him infront of the Royal Court, he then spoke.

"Behold! The coward... The stain on our honour and the honour of our ancestors. From this day forth not one single drop of blood will fall from our Dynasty, for we shall be pure and we will be metal and we will be relentless"

As he spoke he threw Prrmakh to the ground and as the coward pleaded for his life Ibrahim raised his scythe

"Now witness the last of our blood..."

His scythe cut through the coward and into the ground beneath the corpse

"...Spilled"

HONOUR RESTORED

Ibrahim lead the Dynasty like his freind and his mentor did before him, with his legions of undying soldiers behind him he lead from the frontlines cutting down his enemies face to face, he would allow his people to utilize the super weapons that they had created, he allowed pacts and agreements to be restored and allowed his Necron Army to Irradicate all life that stood in their way. As the Silent King greaved at the loss of his soul Ibrahim The Relentless cared not and used his new body to vent the hatred his people had for the old ones and the rest of the creatures they had brought into existence. When the Silent King gave the command to turn on the C'tan Ibrahim did so not out of revenge for his lost soul but out of necessity, he knew his people would become even more powerful if they where to harness the power of the star gods, he knew he could turn them into weapons, so he did, he cut down every C'tan he could find . Either with his Dynasty's weapons or his own warsythe, he attacked the C'tan, cutting them down into shards and locking them away in pocket dimensions to be used later. the war in heaven was coming to a close and the great sleep was the next big step however Ibrahims plan wasn't quite finished yet.

BEFORE THE SLEEP

The Skhilith Dynasty had gathered many favours and many debts leading up to the great sleep and it was time for Ibrahim to have the debts paid. Aeons worth of arcane science, legendary weapons and super weapons, powerful relics and artefacts and an uncountable amount of unique and uniquely powerful items where collected by Ibrahim and his Royal Court and where stored in a pocket dimension only accessible by the Tesseract of Zsorvekh that was built deep in the catacombs of the Dynasties Crown World. Inside the Tesseract was everything that was even remotly valuable to the Dynasty exept for their armies and war machines.

Amtekh was given the task to stay within the Tesseract and watch over the items in the Dynasties possesion while the rest of the Dynasty and the Necron race slept, Amtekh was given the title 'The Watcher' and was sent into the Tesseract shortly before Ibrahim and the rest of the Royal Court joined the Dynasty in the great sleep. Ibrahim had set his plans for who would lead the Skhilith Dynasty if they awoke before him or if he never awoke at all and everything was locked away until he returned, the crownworld fell silent and did not stir again for millennia upon millennia.

****END OF PART 1****

I'm aware I may have mispelled some stuff in there but it's not the completed version but let me know what you guys think

"The Silent King's quest for flesh sickens me, if I could feel such a thing. No... I will see a Necron Empire rise, and leading us will not be the Silent King or those who thirst for a rotting body, no, leading us will be the relentless, the respected, the feared, leading us will be those who seek a galaxy pure, a galaxy rid of all flesh and life, a galaxy rightfully ours and ours alone" - Ibrahim The Relentless addressing the Royal Court of Skhilith

Very nice. Love seeing people come up with their own stuff. Would like to see part 2.

Seems a little sue-ish at first; what with being super awesome and a bit feared for their tech and military prowess being so renowned that other dynasties envy/want them. But that could just be me. I'm a fan of understatement.

I like the scene of Z showing up all metalified strutting the stuff if what the necrontyr will be.

Basaliskia

Hey man thanks for the reply!

I agree that they're very Mary-Sueish at the beginning, I wanted them to appear like "hey everybody loves us, what's the worst that could happen" and then for them to fall from grace and fall hard, to only be resurrected (excuse the pun ) by Ibrahim and his new ideology (oh and now they're scary robots!)

However I guess a little re-write toning them down may do the story justice

I'm half way through writing up Part 2 at the moment which is quite a lot about what was going on during the Great Sleep and the other members of the Royal Court. It'll probably be done by today and I think it'll emphasize the fall of the Dynasty better than part one

But again thank you for you're reply hopefully you'll read part 2

Basaliskia

After a long long loooooooong couple of weeks I've finally had a break to sit down and write up the next part of my fluff (after panicking thinking I deleted my notes )

This part will be shorter but will push the story along, plus the next part will definitely be bigger than this one so fear not

I know I may have left some spelling mistakes as I was a bit rushed but here is part 2 of the story of the Skhilith Dynasty

THE FIRST

The Great Sleep was almost over, many necrons spanning the galaxy had started to crawl from their tombs to stand amongst the ruins of their once beautiful worlds. Great tomb cities had been reduced to ruble and the most expansive catacombs had collapsed across the galaxy, unfortunately even some necron worlds had been completly destroyed by the ravages of time and the unpredictableness of space itself.

Amongst the Skhilith Dynasty the first to arise from his tomb was a Lord of the Royal Court named Rh'ah, he bore no other title yet was respected by his peers as he was a strong leader and a sound military strategist. He awoke alone upon the moon of the imperial designated world of Basaliskia Prime however this was not the name he knew it by, this was the world of Me'khaa, the resting place of the Skhilith Dynasty.

Attempting to make contact with Me'khaa he soon realized that he was the first of his Dynasty to rise, and so set the responsibility of maintaining the Dynasty, firmly on Rh'ah's shoulders. His first goal was to resurrect the Warriors who where still in stasis upon the moon with him, only enough to assist him, however, with the potential dangers that may lurk on the surface of Me'khaa.

Unable to Phase to the planet via an eternity gate Rh'ah and a Phlanex of warriors took a small ship and landed manually upon the planet below only to discover the state the planet had fallen into, ice and snow plagued the planet's surface and the great structures that housed the Dynasties people where partly buried beneath it.

Locating and breaching through the ice that kept it sealed shut Rh'ah entered the room where the canoptek control systems where and noticed that at some point the canoptek units that where supposed to keep the planet from falling into disarray had failed and had shut down. After days of repairs the canoptek systems where running again, Rh'ahs next task was the restoration of Me'khaa and it's catacombs, even with the canoptek's tirelessness however it would take decades to complete the work, but all Rh'ah had was time, or at least so he thought.

THE SILENCE OF MADNESS

With the Canoptek tirelessly working away at the restoration of Me'khaa, Rh'ah was curious of the state of the rest of the galaxy, taking a ship and his warriors he searched the galaxy gathering infomation of the current state of the necron Dynasties elswhere, but to his horror he found world after world crawling with life and worse yet, he remembered some of these worlds to be tomb worlds and even Crown worlds belonging to Dynasties with close ties to his own people. Enraged by this he began to attack from the shadows in very personal and concentrated incidents bringing no attention to himself or the necron presence, rumours began to circulate of a spirit that haunted these worlds that would snatch people away for them to never be seen again.

With these attacks becoming more and more frequent and increasingly violent as the years past by, it was only a matter of time before someone was to intervene, and with the suspicion of an alien conspiracy none other than the deathwatch was called to investigate.

Upon the planet of -redacted- the deathwatch searched until they came across a small black pyramid structure in the forests close to the city where people where experiencing these disappearances, upon entering the structure the deathwatch where fired upon from all angles, Rh'ah knew they where coming, it was an ambush. After disposing of the space marine squad Rh'ah fell into a rampage and attacked the city, leaving none alive. He then returned to Me'khaa's moon for he felt that something was wrong...

Something wasn't right. He had never allowed his emotions to override his logic, he could feel it, as much as a necron could, his mind was deteriorating and it was deteriorating fast. Not knowing how much time he had before the madness set in, his goal to restore the Dynasty took priority over all other things, so he set into motion the awakening of the man he trusted most, the Overlord Jolel, he knew he would lead the Dynasty to greatness and at a faster pace now that the restoration of Me'khaa's surface and catacombs where close to completion. Laying the last of the foundation for the Dynasty to rise, Rh'ah imposed himself into exile but not before he removed his Dynasty's colours from his body and further removed Ibrahims Mark from his face, he would not shame his people or his Phearon with his insanity and so left Me'khaa with a small force of warriors for a distant world to find either a solution for his madness or an end for himself

NEVER-ENDING LOYALTY

Years after Rh'ah departed into exile, the Canopteks work was nearly done and Jolel had finally awoken within the catacombs of Me'khaa, it was time now for the royal court to awaken and for the armies of Skhilith to awaken with them but Jolel knew the dangers of awakening the royal court too early, that it may insight madness within them as it splinters the mind, instead Jolel went about the process of awakening a small force of Warriors, Immortals and Lychguard to both defend and expand the borders of the Dynasty in a galaxy plagued with life, while the royal court was left to awaken in their own time.

In taking back the world's that rightfully belonged to his people ,Jolel rained death upon the unsuspecting alien populous, Doom Sythes screamed through the air destroying all hope of escape while hundreds of Ghost Arks decended upon the cities of the planet, dispatching thousands of Warriors and Immortals to iradicate all who littered the world's that the Necron once called their own. He knew the cleansing of the galaxy, let alone the sector, would be a tedious process without the bulk of the Dynasty and their leaders awoken, but luck was at hand, as the next few members of the Court where about to step from their tombs.

NOTE

The Planet that was marked as -redacted- plays a role in my Homebrew Space Marine Chapter's fluff as well as my own sort of "In universe storytelling" basically my necron fluff fits in the fluff I have alongside my 3 space marine chapters (Iron Hands, Dark Angels, Dark Marshals (homebrew)), my Death Guard warband, and my Tau (T'au Sept)

None of it will clash with the 40k universe as it stands it just moves around within it

But yeah let me know what you guys think!!

My apologies everyone

This year has been a very hectic one indeed, the past couple months more than ever, I'm getting round to writing up part 3 of the Necron Lore and also a short story titled "The Pariah Lives" based on the "In universe story telling" I mentioned in my last post, it will also work in more Necron Lore for my dynasty while hopefully being good enough to stand on its own, but again I apologise for the delay

I'm the mean time happy hobbying
