So the real reason I am excited to start 30k is because the amount of character customization for the HQs is pretty amazing, from what I can tell. I picked up a Betrayal at Calth boxed set and and looking into starting a core force to build from. With a few extra models from my 40k force, I came up with this as a starting point to dip my toes in:

Glad to see another Iron Hands player. While I can not give any advice on your list, I am new to 30K myself, however after asking about getting another BaC box from some other IH players they said it was not necessary (guess it depends on the type of list you are going for). Here is a link to an all Iron Hands 30K facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/921017901311117/?ref=nf_target&fref=nf. They have been very helpful.
Glad to see 2 more Iron Hands players myself. As far as your list goes, I'd say more tacticals. My list is different and still in development but I've gone with more tacs, Apothecaries attached to the squads, and a lot of armor, since our Legion is Vehicle and Dread Heavy I'm going fluffy and shooty!

I eventually evolved my list around the same ideals... I'm still a bit short on Tacticals, but my 2k list looks something like this now:

Shadrak Meduson
····Master of the Legion [The Head of the Gorgon]
Legion Terminator Squad [Cataphractii Terminator Armour with Combi-bolter and Power Weapon, Chainfist, 4x Legion Terminators, 3x Pair of Lightning Claws]
····Legion Land Raider Phobos [Armoured Encirclement, Blessed Autosimulacra]

I really dig Shadrak Meduson, his backstory is awesome. So I built my army up around the concept that my units will be fully mechanized and mobile (Apart from the contemptor, who is backline support), and with Armored Encirclement that gives me some options for deployment. I added in lots of Apothecaries to keep the units tough as nails. Legion Vexilla on every tactical squad was a fluffy choice for me... With Meduson at their head, I envision this army as a warband that he formed after the fall of Ferrus Manus. I figure after watching your primarch die, there isn't much else that can rattle you!
I really wanted to do the shattered legion Rite of War as well to gain hatred for traitors, but I needed the Head of the Gorgon for the Armored Encirclement and the free Blessed Autosimulacra bonuses. Besides, not every game is against traitors...
The plan right now is to start with 2 tactical rhinos, the Heavy support rhino, the contemptor, and the Land Raider on the board. That gives me a pretty strong board presence early on. Keeping the Support squad with meduson and a apothecary attached, as well as a tactical squad rhino, in reserve; I can outflank and use them to smash targets of opportunity and go for mid/late game objective grabs. The hope is that a Land Raider Phobos, with a deadly Cataphractii terminator squad inside, hurtling up the board will prove to be too big a threat to ignore and give the other units more freedom to do what needs be done... If it does get ignored, it is gonna cram all those assault terminators down sombody's gullet.
Nice list. Looks pretty solid for 2000 points. I always find it hard to make 30k lists for anything below 2.5k just because there are so many toys and fun units in 30k.
Btw, if you are planning to run your IH as post-Istvaan V, consider running the Company of Bitter Iron ROW. That's what I am using, and I love it. It makes immortals troops, gives all your units Hatred for traitors, and gives your immortals stubborn in your opponent's deployment. I'm running 2 squads of immortals decked out with volkite weapons in land raiders, a squad of gorgons in a spartan, and a couple dreads. Lots of fun and very fluffy.

I definitely want to, I just don't have any Immortals yet... I do plan on putting in one big purchase to FW later this year though! Though instead of volkite, I would be tempted to outfit them with Graviton.... in my local area, tanks are really popular, especially those thrice-damned Sicarans. Would be nice to haywire them to death... *cackle*
The other option I was considering was running the Shattered Legion ROW that gives Hatred for traitors but also makes Veteran squads troops. But since I am going mechanized, I figured I'd just keep the Head of the Gorgon and get all my vehicular bonuses.
Thanks for the compliment on the list though, I have yet to run it. I'm hoping to maybe test it out this weekend if I can get an opponent squared away.
