are you sure that's all you can muster with 2k points? Assault squads went down in points last update!

Unfortunately yes. Still 300+ points for 20. I guess i could cut two of the javelin speeders. I know librarians ate expensive, but on the chance I get Iron Arm and/or warp speed he'll hit like a brick tsunami.

You will have to live through a round of shooting before you get an assault.

I would suggest adding Armour with those remaining 500 points or something to punch a whole in the enemy's gunline that can create a distraction.

Cheers!

Personally I would swap out the hand flamers for something else as they are incredibly expensive for only a s3 ap6 template. Also consider artificer armor for your sergeants

Yeah, and the roughest thing about using the hand flamers is going to be getting off shots with them when you first deep strike in. You're going to have your large unwieldy blobs of assault marines and if you have them land super close to your enemy's units, they can very easily become impossible to deploy and result in a mishap.

Trust me, deep striking 20 man blobs in 30k is not like deep striking the sort of five man squads that are typically taken in 40k.

I've had best luck with my 20 man assault squad when I can deep strike it safely away from my opponent's army behind some LoS blocking terrain.

Further more, once they do hit the deck, if you're going to fire those hand flamers, they're going to have to be at the front of that blob, since you can't shoot templates through your own troops. That means when your opponent shoots back at you, they'll be the first to go. Same goes with your inferno pistols.

Like, I know it's tempting to take good guns for the assault squads to make use of that pinning rule, but man, getting in the right position to get the shots off is going to be suuuuper risky, and it prevents you from running so if they have any blast or template weapons of their own, you're toast.

Ditch the guns for those squads, and go four power weapons per squad. Axes that wound MEQs on 2+ are brutal.
I'd also consider ditching the lightning claws on the serg, unless you really want them for cool points. A power sword with +1 to wound is good enough, the reroll really isn't worth the extra points. Same goes with the claws on your praetor (unless you really want them for cool points), a fist is a better choice for the +1 attack. Same goes with the blade of perdition on your librarian. He already comes with a force weapon, just stick with that.

Use the points you just saved to make one of those apothecaries into a primus medicae with the blade of perdition. It's only a extra 65 pts and you get a ton of extra fighting power when you do that.

If you don't go the Primus Medicae route you can also splash in a twin inferno moritat into your army for extra shooting when you deep strike. He'll do way more for you than an assault squad with inferno pistols.

I'd also consider swapping the missile launcher for the lascannons on the javelins, unless you really want the lascannons for cool points or you know you're facing a lot of armor 14 or terminators. Those are about the only instances where one S9AP2 shot is better than two S8AP3 shots.

And lastly, with your remaining 500 points, I'd set up an armored gun line. Units like a fire raptor or xiphon are tempting and fluffy for blood angels, but you really want to put out as much turn 1 dakka as you can to protect your vulnerable assault squads, so waiting til turn 2 or 3 for a plane to come in is probably a bad idea.

If you have units like a twin kheres mortis contemptor or an assault cannon malcador, or a twin assault cannon twin close combat normal contemptor rounding out your list, and your opponent gets the first turn, they'll only have armor 13 and armor 14 targets to shoot at before you start deep striking right away neutralizing probably a bulk of their shooting.

Whew, that was a lot, hope you made it to the end of my critique! GOOD LUCK!!!

Oh man, also worth considering, something that can hold a point on your side of the board. Ten tacticals in reserve or in a rhino with an assault cannon might be a good option.
