Hey all

After being septic all about AoS I have fallen in love (if that's the right word) with the Slaughterpriest model and I've got to be honest I'm at a loss where to start? I know I should buy the main book but can anyone give me any advice on army composition? There doesn't seem to be a lot of info on the interwebz or my google-fu is very poor

Any advice would be great

Thanks in advance

Good timing - there is a get started box on pre-order that has the priest, warriors, and juggernaut cavalry coming up this week! Which is a great deal. If you are going big they also have the AoS expansion box still on sale on the webstore and physical locations so that is a huge savings as well. Try to find half of the original starter set for cheap on ebay or split with a friend.

Do a keyword search in this forum and in the aos tactics forum and you'll see a lot of stuff - I just went through this exercise at the beginning of summer.

Good luck!

The starter is a great place to start with a bloodbound army. If you want stormcast its good for that as well but if not its easily traded for more bloodbound.

The battletomes are great for lore, missions, formations, etc but not required at all.

I would suggest the starter for bloodbound and play some open play games to start before matched play.

If it's the helmed slaughterpriest, it comes free with the first monthly White Dwarf. So you'll want that! Next, in September Gorechosen comes out for £35 it's a board game with 4x Bloodbound Heroes (none are from the starter or the free white dwarf mini) - that's a great saving too and get's you a cool board game to play as well. Combine all that with the bloodbound starter box from eBay and you should have a nice little starter force! It might seem Hero heavy but Bloodbound get all their synergy from their Heroes.

After that, pick up the Bloodbound Battletome for the lore and the General's Handbook for the rules (including Matched play points values).

PS. I hope AoS is no longer making you septic

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

I still have an odd itch from the septicness

Thanks for the details I'm actually liking the bald gut with the tusks round his neck.

I will definitely look into picking up these bits to start my force though.

Are you sure that you shouldn't look into supporting Father Nurgle instead?
It seems you may have been blessed by him already, and he is a very generous patron.

You will want skullcrushers or something fast so your guys can get across the board and smash face. Gotta have something to take care of things shooting you across the board.

Ok, are there any units that are just plain bad? This is a GW after all and we've all been bitten buying that one terrible unit.
