Outer Space, Apparently

I'm not sure if this will be a successful thread or not. However, since the current Overwatch thread on this site has over 14,000 views, I judge that it may be useful for anyone passing by.

So while I'm busy monotonously cutting, cleaning and assembling a batch of Tyranid Genestealers, I thought I'd run the idea of creating a thread that will contain skills and advice regarding Overwatch in all aspects and, more importantly, for players of all levels, past the Dakka community. Hopefully, in time, Dakkanauts and visitors who play Overwatch can come and find some tips for their next games after browsing/posting in the forums from a wide variety of members before getting back in and kicking some A.

So a very simple premise here - if you have any tips and tricks for playing Overwatch, drop them here in "entries" that others can read and use.

I thought that I'd make a simple colour code so that readers can browse the thread quickly for specific information they want should it extend beyond 1 page; just colour your title based on what advice you're giving as follows:

Orange - Offence type heroes
Blue - Defence type heroes
Green - Tank type heroes
Cyan - Support type heroes
Yellow - Teamplay and Composition strategy
Violet - Competitive mode strategy
Brown - Map strategy
Dark Red - Game Optimisation and Technical Support

With this you can title your tips as simply or as complex as you desire, ranging from something like "How to use recall effectively as Tracer " to "How to use D.VA to deal with Widowmakers on Hanamura ". Then after that, go into your trick of the day in detail below.

My only suggestion is that people keep to one tip per post to keep it simple and easy to read, but it should be fine if you code each title

Hopefully with this we can all learn a thing or two from eachother - I know that certainly could do with a few new tricks myself!

Happy posting!

G.A

I'll start with something I learned the other day:

D.VA's Boosters and Self Destruct Trajectory

So I've been playing D.VA a lot recently since she's tied with Lucio as my strongest Hero, and like a lot of D.VA players prefer to combine her ultimate with her boosters for a surprise attack on the enemy team. However, in a game yesterday I failed horribly twice in a row as my Mecha went flying past the enemy team and exploded to no effect; sometimes I forget that this tactic can send my ultimate flying out of range, and there is nothing more infuriating than missing an ultimate that can wipe out most of the enemy team.

So my tip is this - when you have your ultimate charged as D.VA, and spot an opportunity to use it, consider the trajectory at which your Mecha will travel when you bail out in mid air. While you can throw it over walls such as those big archways on Temple of Anubis, you want to be careful when you're going to use it on flat ground. So to solve the issue, try flying upwards and then down towards your target instead of going upwards and letting go; you'll hit your target way more frequently that way

My Tip of the day:

Rinehart

please keep your hands and arms behind the safety square at all times.

FFS

Oh also dont forget to flame strike as the doors open. especially if you see a bunch grouped together. it can net you something like 10-30% of your ult pretty quickly. (i forget the numbers but it does let you hammer down earlier than the enemy team which can be very important for a counter push)

And yet another thread is hijacked for Unit to ask for the same advice, receive the same answers and make the same excuses.

I watch Mr Stylosa too; he's great

I thought it'd be a nice idea to have the Dakka community throw in general things they find though that YouTubers may not cover

EDIT: Just came off an Overwatch run and missed 3 D.VA ultimates this time good to know my own advice is sinking in
