I was wondering if these two lists would be okay to play in friendly games with my mates. I've tried to make a 500 point CAD and then a 1000 point Battle Demi Company. After that I hope to move onto the Gladius Strike Force. I don't want it to be completely OP and I also don't want it to be an uphill struggle. The other armies I'll face are Eldar, Space Wolves, Astra Militarum, and MAYBE the Tempestus duders. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

The top list seems perfectly fine however some people dislike playing against an all drop podding army so find out how your other players feel about it however no lascannon just go with a plasma unless ther camping backfield with the drop pod just acting as a cheap objective holder. List 2 however does not want the heavy weapons on the tactical squads as they have to snap fire the missile and cant fire the plasma cannon so go with some plasma guns or meltas unless of course like stated above there for objective camping and even then a second missile launcher is likely to be better than a plasma cannon. Other than that looks pretty solid.

Welcome to playing Space Marines!

I'll comment on the first list to start... I would get rid of the lascannon on the tactical squad in the pod because it's too expensive to have to snapfire on the turn it arrives. I'd go with a plasma gun to match the combi (just like the other squad). Or, you can put one grav cannon in each squad, and leave the rest of the bodies with bolters... although more expensive, even a single grav cannon can do some work if left un-addressed.

For the Assault Squad, I'd either give them jump packs (if hoping for melee) or just ditch the cc weapons and packs for 2 flamers. If you go the all-pods route, I like the flamers...

Finally, for the HQ choice... a Chaplain doesn't do much unless he can get a heavy-hitter into combat and then give them re-rolls... I'd put him on a bike, or in a jump pack and either pair him with a bike squad or assault squad that has a vet sgt. with power fist, an eviscerator (hidden in the unit -- note that the sgt. doesn't have to be the one to take it) and then try to leap-frog up the field.

As for the second list, some of the same feedback applies... especially for heavy weapons in drop pods (except for the grav cannon b/c it's salvo.. but even then that's not optimal), the Chaplain and Assault Squad, and now the Centurions. If you are taking the long-range variant, you want to fully commit and give them the missile launchers. Although Tank Hunters on IF lascannon/misile cents is best (if not taking grav and putting in a pod), they could work for you in this case.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I'm going to run the assault squad and chaplain with jump packs and no drop pod. The tactical squads with all plasma in the 500 point list and then the extra tac squad in the demi company with a mix of melta and flamers. The dev cents will have the missile/las combo as suggested too.

Cheers!
