Just curious if anyone has compiled a list of how many points you get for the AoS start collecting boxes?

I think it totally depends on the box and contents, but likely not insanely varied. I'd guess most probably sit around 500-750 points, but it seems you typically don't get enough BattleLine units or sometimes even enough to make a min unit.

Going through them quickly just now and going with just how they've built them not whats possible.

In the order they're showing for me on the site
Flesh Eaters - 560
Malignants - 460
Daemons of Nurgle - 500
Bloodbound - 460
Skaven Pestilens - 540
Greenskinz - 460
Daemons of Khorne - 380
Sylvaneth - 600 (4 dryads under the 20 you're paying for)
Slaves to Darkness - 780 (you're paying for 20 warriors but getting 12)
Ironjawz - 440
Stormcast Eternals - 520 (paying for 5 retributors but getting 2)
Skeleton Horde - 540
Seraphon - 760 (paying for 10 knights, getting 8 and paying for 20 warriors but getting 12)

Kind of obvious the older ones will have the highest amount of points for what you get but also actually the largest gaps between the models you're paying points for compared to what you have to use. At least by default.

The Bloodthrone comes with a Herald and is why it has the 'Leader' battlefield role. I can't think of a single warscroll where you would be required to purchase its rider form a separate warscroll.

Ah then it's just a flat 120 for it making it the lowest point box.

As an aside I think for start collecting, it's probably worth it to just eschew Matched Play entirely and stick with Open Play.

I think that's probably the intention actually with how they haven't included any of the starting battalions in the point lists.

Also haven't from the boxed armies either, my flesh eaters army box battalion is nowhere to be found either, and trying to recreate it in Matched Play really reduces its effectiveness.

GW has stated on the Facebook page that only Battalions in the individual Battletomes and Grand Alliance books will get points for Matched Play. There will be no points for the Battalions in the Start Collecting! boxes or the campaign books (i.e., The Realmgate Wars books) for Matched Play.

I guess that makes sense; likely Start Collecting boxes would use Open Play as you don't have much, and the campaign books would use Narrative Play as options. The Battletomes/Alliance books are the new "Army Books" so it makes sense they would be included.

If you build the blood throne as a skull cannon, you get the herald on foot for a total of 520 points. For most of the sets if you count full units. (2 chaos warriors for 180 points is not a good idea) each box is in the ballpark of 500 points. In terms of matched play every army is nerfed which makes these boxes great as the core of a matched play army. It also allows them to include wacky super powerful battalions to use in open play if you wish.

In terms of building an army the flesh eaters one is best as there are 11 different warscrolls that can be built from that box. 3 boxes and you are all set with several different ways to build a 2000 point army.

You're not helping my decision to not buy several of those boxes

I plan on buying two of the Ironjawz box. Considering they are just a teensy bit more expensive than a single box of Gore Gruntas, its a freakin' steal.

Well they are start collecting boxes to pit boxes against each other(open play) or build a collection. The point of matched play is to keep it balanced some of the start collecting battalions are pretty crazy or meh in my opinion and adding them to matched play would upset the balance IMO.
