Hey guys I have been turning this over. What are your thoughts on using a Knight Atrapos in the War Convocation instead of Knight Crusader? This would be in a tournament format.

Atrapos is the one with the Vortex Gun yeah? Do the rules even say you can substitute the Knight for one of the fancy FW ones?

Assuming that FW is allowed you are okay to bring the Atrapos in the War Convocation

The formation states "1 Imperial Knight Oathsworn Detachment (See Codex: Imperial Knights)", I'd imagine this restricts you to the 5 standard patterns, not the FW ones.

Under ITC rules, yes, you can run an Atrapos on it's own in a War Convocation/Oathsworn detachment. If you are not playing under ITC rules, you can only take an Atrapos in a War Convocation/Oathsworn detachment if you take any other Knight. Outside of a War Convocation, the Atrapos can be taken in any Imperial army as a Lord of War.

I was more interested in peoples feedback on how it would perform versus a crusader.

The Atrapos has a much shorter range but has a faster movement and is tougher, which lends itself to melee. If your goal is the to provide range support, the Crusader is the winner. But if you want a heavy duty short range Knight, the Atrapos is worth it's points.
