Hunting Glade Guard

Plymouth, Devon, UK

Hi

I've put this list together for pick up games at my local:

Order allegiance

Waywatcher (general) - 100
Spellweaver - 100
Glade guard x30 (battleline) - 360
Waywatchers x6 (battleline) - 160
Eternal guard x10 - 80
Wild riders x5 - 140
Great eagle - 60

I chose the waywatcher as my general so I could have the 'see, but do not be seen' ability, which helps my units survive a bit more (-1 to shooting hits against my units within 18" of him). Glade guard get +1 to hit for being over 20 models, and my spellweaver can help keep them above 20 for longer by reviving models if need be. The waywatchers unit should get some decent shooting in. I must admit I've never used eternal guard before, but they'll undoubtedly hold an objective for longer than any other unit I have, especially if the spellweaver can revive fallen models (is a 10 man unit enough though?).

I must admit also that the great eagle only made it in as I was 60 pts short of 1k and it was the only model I could fit in. That being said, it's my fastest unit and could be useful for late game objective grabbing (assuming it survives that long!) or just being a nuisance.

I think the only scenario I am really unsure about is escalation, as bringing my units on in 3 phases, I am not sure what I would bring on first, second etc. I'll have to think about that a bit more, but if anyone has any advice on that, or any advice on my list in general, that'd be awesome! I am currently limited model wise to what I have listed, but will be able to buy a few units at the end of the month if there is anything I could really benefit from.

Cheers in advance :-)

Waywatcher is a good hero, but the Nomad Prince tends to make a better general with his command ability when I have played them. Try both if you can and see which one works better for you.

Eternal guard are really hard to dislodge once they get in cover. Especially if you throw a shield on them. Also fun to throw the Sisters of thorn unique spell on them as well.

I haven't played with Waywatchers as a unit, but if your opponent is Chaos bring the Sisters of the Watch out.

On escalation I would probably bring out your Glade Guard 1st and shoot and move a bunch. And hopefully trying to alpha something with that -3 rend. Then Eternal along with Waywatcher. Finally your wild riders and great eagle last to pick off objectives.

Those are my thoughts, I really enjoyed them as a army, although I'm playing all trees right now
