Stealthy Dark Angels Scout with Shotgun

WI

Hello,

I recently did something I probably shouldn't have. I bought model's without playtesting them. Long story short, I am very busy, and do not have time to play as often as I like, none the less playtest lists.

I want to run a CAD with 2x troops (not sure if scouts or tacs yet haven't decided). 1x Techmarine, and 1 unit of 3 Whirlwinds. I would be bringing a Lion's Blade Battle company as well (2 deimi companies, and 10th company support.).

I just saw the whirlwind on paper and really liked it. So, I made the purchase. I am now wondering how effective they will be. Woops. Anyone have experience using the whirlwind? How likely will I get to shoot 2x using all 3 models (having all 3 grants pinning+Shred)? Any other feedback?

Me?

Well if you are going to be running the Lions blade strike force, which is going to be around 50+ space marine models, and you already have 3 vindicators. I would say drop the 10th company support and run a Hammer of Caliban aux unit.

Its 1 LR, and 3 Vindicators, with a tech marine embarked on the LR, its a single unit, have the tech marine take like 3 or 4 servitors so you can repair the LR, he also gives the LR a BS of 5. Then the vindicators can sit back and use the siege breaker ability.

That lets you fire a single shot, but its S10 AP 2 Apoc blast and ignores cover.

If you are running a Lion's Blade Battle Company, i would also advice running minimum squad size, IE 5 tac squads, and abuse the free transports, by getting like 6~8 razorbacks with HB or better, WEW lads, talk about vehicle spam.

GAK! ignore me i thought you said vindicators, but WW are Meh, its nice to have the ignore cover for sure, but look at magnetizing them so you can run them as vindicators as well. But you can run those WW in a Hammer of Caliban aux unit

To many unpainted models to count.

Whirlwinds are fine against squishy armies like blob Guard, Dark aEldar, and some Ork lists, but generally aren't too great.

I' having a Hammer of the Caliban with basic Land Raider and 3 Whirlwinds. With Pinning and Shred they can actually do some damage, even against tougher opponents. And they are cheap. They are perhaps better when with Land Raider Redeemer fending off any attackers from Whirlwinds. Techmarine is nice addittion that helps Land Raider survive little longer..
