Over on another forum, I am embroiled in a discussion about how you work out template hits on a IG  HW base.  I'm on the opinion that you get two hits, since, as spelled out in the FAQ, the HW team is two models, put on one base for convience sake.  The fact that it's only one base is irrelevant, since it's still two affected models. I seem to be in the minority with this reading (a popular one seems to be measure an additional inch around the mounted models, and it has to come within that) and wanted to know what the rulemeisters over here thought.

being a IG player this pisses me off to admit, but i think you are 100% correct.

based on my interpretaion of "RAW", you'd get 2 full or partial hits on 2 models.

Right, my arguement has never been that this in any way affects casualty removal.

That's how my group plays. We experimented with using the exact positions of the models, but that meant that the orientation of the base mattered which seemed silly as GW has removed that for infantry.
