Alright, so I've been writing on Dakka for a good little while and mentioned the Edith sector a few times. Now, I'm not sure if anyone reads my crap but I feel the need to elaborate more on the Sector's entire design and purpose. I'll be listing information about the various conflicts that transpire, abhuman variants, Ephreal History, and general history explaining the entirety of the Expansion and key players involved. Oh, and I will be slightly diverting from the fluff a smidgen because somethings are just too ridiculous to conform to. I'm sure Exodite's wouldn't outright murder feral abhumans.

Also, please don't come to my door step and burn me for heresy, fire hurts and I don't like getting hurt. Hehe

Intro ( Might be tweaked but for now enjoy )
Spoiler:

Imperial controlled space is so vast I highly doubt that each and every sector has been mapped out accordingly and with that said, Edith is a sector found in the late M38 Millennium. Inside this sector they find a collection of worlds so rich with precious minerals and resources that a great expansion is set forth. Once glorious hive cities and human monuments now lay in ruin, overgrown and even stripped apart by former human residents and creatures.
Nearly every world is inhabited by former humans whom have evolved to become abhumans of various designs to compliment the sometimes hostile worlds they thrive on. Numerous Sororitas Orders lead by the Order Sabine spear head indoctrination efforts for all abhumans discovered, even possible mutants. They originally didn't grasp the scope of Edith's wealth and it became quite clear they would need enormous amounts of manual and mechanical labor to ensure a swift colonization to ensure the Imperium could properly capitalize on its resources. Though all this sounds like a minor task for expansionist, the species they seek to enslave quickly complicate matters. Mongrel's rebel in bloody guerilla conflicts, Mustoine insectoid abhumans endure inhuman experimentation to harvest their chitin, atrocities from one corner of Edith to another.
Humans label themselves as liberators from their primitive existence. Exodites who once lived in unison with these once human beings now face utterr extinction as the Imperial expansionists wage campaign after campaign to root them out. When human numbers dwindle, abhumans are forced to fight in their stead. Dark Eldar, long since banished from Commoragh, lead their Eldar pirates to aid their bleeding cousins but not without a dire cost. Their growing hate for Imperials begins to blind reason and soon they gather to fight an unwinnable war. Behind the conflict, the unannounced Archon gains their trust but only through shattering previous relations with feral natives. A powerful Kabal will rise from the smoke which forever poisons Edith's contorted carcass.
Chaos gods once blinded to this lush garden begin sewing their own influence into poisoned minds as a new game is played. Chaos incursions fill the skies in swirling screeching souls running like vast rivers in crimson skies. Slaves must cling to salvation while thirsting gods feed and corrupt all willing to entertain their false promises. Another space faring race, the Ephreal's emerge in ancient vessels dating back tot he Great Crusade. Though there numbers are small they feebly attempt to halt the expansion before more innocents suffer tyrannical dictatorships. Space Marines, known as the Indomitable Boars emerge at the height of the Ephreal and Exodite conflicts. Sworn to serve humanity in all forms, the Boars burdens themselves with the disdain brought about by hundreds of brother chapters. Deep ties within the many Sororitas orders are severed but not without purpose.

Edith is plagued by the dominion of man's hubris and threatens to implode. Whether it survives the trials ahead remains shrouded in uncertainty. 799.M38 to 986.M39 records the grand expansion into Edith and humanities descent into madness.

Abhuman Species

Mongrels: Perhaps the most numerous abhuman they're a variant of beastmen, otherwise known as homo sapien variatus. Notably several strains away from Beastmen, most Mongrels exhibit subtle canine features such as rigid teeth, a variety of small horns usually protruding from their temples, sharper senses, and exceptionally hairy. Aside from their devolved features, they're typically smaller than your average man. Ordinary height is five foot two and little muscle definition. Because of their home planet, combat expertise revolve around guerilla tactics while utilizing their own acrobatic strengths and incredibly feats of speed.
Certain Mongrel breeds would become more and more present within the Imperial Guardsmen known as 'Shredder Hounds'. Genetor Extremis Galafex, like other experiments, improved on the Mongrel gene since their presence grew more apparent within the guardsmen. Shredder Hounds are exceptionally larger and muscular than other Mongrel's. While others are undisciplined, even slack jaw, Shredder's embody the ideal soldier after generations of selective breeding. These specific Mongrels can only be found within guardsmen ranks inside Edith unless specifically requested.

Mustoine: Originally considered mutants, they were later elevated to Abhuman status after Magos Biologus discovered the chitin from their bodies could be harvested and easily reformed into lighter and more durable flak and carapace armor. Mustoines hail from the Eidious Cluster. Primarily housing gas giants, four moons surround the most distant gas giant known as Signatus, after the man who discovered the Mustoines.
Each moons is a mirror image of the other with an obscene floura technically sentient though primitive. An immense consuming organism, presumably alien, has integrated and ultimately overtaken the entire planet. Similar to Tyranids, this organism expanded and receded constantly leaving behind spores that replanted previously devoured plants. Ancient human settlers adapted over centuries of exposure and devolved as a result. They resemble burly four armed humanoids of Astarte's build with a thin chitinous coating known for absorbing several bolter rounds before being penetrated.
Mutant in all forms, it's to be reminded that Mustoines were not carnivores and often feasted upon the alien organism attempting to devour their planet. Unfortunately these planets were purged of life and the collective Mustoines relocated for further study. Few humans ever see them for the breeding grounds are known only to Mechanicus. It's rumored an entire world is dedicated to breeding and harvesting their chitin which results in Mustoines enduring an endless cycle of grizzly death.

Ephreals (They'll have their own page at a later date): Possibly the most human species inside Edith, Ephreals resemble Eldar, in some instances. Tall gangly individuals resembling albino's. Blue veins illuminate from beneath their epidermus where certain points glow brighter than others. Interestingly, Machine Spirits become increasingly aggressive whenever Ephreals are present. Tanks tore into frenzies and whole cruisers unleash their entire payloads in grandious barrages. Further investigation has resulted into interesting finds- ancient nano-bots have infected the biological and mechanical matter in one form or another. Ships remain without change except that their crew consists of collection of Ephreal's molded in elaborate yet elegant shrines at the vessels heart.
Ephreal's cannot manufacture their own machines or utilize warp drives except for brief jumps. Whether this is by choice remains to be seen. However, pictographs across numerous feral planets relate to Ephreal influence. Theorists believe the infectious machine spirit isn't capable of malicious intent, thus played a hand in multiple societies eventually leading to the feral environments seen today. This is further emphasized when they employ weather manipulation devices, biological spores to manipulate the atmosphere, weapons presumably crafted for terraforming purposes.

Much is yet to be discovered about these mysterious humans but Mechanicus harbor inexhaustible hate for their very existence, so it's questionable if anything more will be discovered.

(( More to be added later ))

Well Excodites WILL murder anyone actually if they get the chance, being Xenos and all. but all jokes aside, I like this even if it could do with more explenation and fleshing out.
Also may I suggest keeping to the fluff when it comes to what sort of serfs a Astartes chapter keeps but except for that keep at it and read the works of other Dakka members as well( Sorry my internal fluff puritan made me type this)

I can suggest Lonelictor( Although he is no longer active) Necroagogo and Mr Morden.

Come into my web, said the spider to the fly.
Come rest your wings, and let us talk eye to eye.
For I am a spider, and you are the fly. Now that you are here, let us sit, and say hi.
But I have have no morsel to share, nor anything to eat. But wait, what is that stickiness upon your feet.
Ah now I have you, now I can eat. Now I can enjoy you, or store you as meat.
For I am the spider, and you are the fly. How else could it have gone, between one such as you, and one such as I.

This thread is dedicated solely to document history, species, discoveries, conflicts, all the non-sense. There won't be any stories here since those will be in my story thread it'll just be information. This is essentially a sector that escaped discovery during the Great Crusade and has only now come to light. The Imperium, even though everyone loves them, are the main antagonists.

I'm still fickle on making Astarte's serfs all humans. Mind you, human populations are dwarfed by the numerous Abhuman's, so it's difficult to fill the void in the later years. However, I'm sure I can rectify this with in depth narrative to give a damn good reason why they're not all humans... Yea, totally popping my collar after typing that. Hehe

My suggestion would be to add a link to any stories about anyone mentioned here so that they're easy to find for anyone interested. Stop s the repeated question of so is there any stories and where can I find them etc...

Yea, I was thinking about doing that but right now I'm trying to type up the Ephreal's and how in the sweet holy hell they have Pre-Heresy ships. After that I get to sink my greasy mits into some delicious Abhumans construction.... MUAHAHAHA! The sheer heresy is making Tzeech's loins quiver in delight. Hehe

Keep up the good work I recommend telling us the factions that way you don't have to explain everything.

I need to make all the Abhumans and Mutants first and then I'll begin listing faction briefing. Craftworld, Kabal, too many Sororitas Orders, Regiments, SPESS MAREENS!, and then sub-factions... OH MY GOD! What I have done, I think I'm going way over my head on this one! Lolz

Take a deep breathe and say I have elder, abhumans, than the Imperium.

Make big groups than small groups.
