I have been tinkering around with some damage markers. I would like to incorporate them on the unit base, painting or flocking over everything except the number and the damage peg that holds the skull. On troop sized units it is going to be a bit big but workable. It will only work for characters if you keep the marker on the roster and not beside the figure. But for regiments and hordes it should be a highly visible way to indicate damage that fits neatly on the back of the unit.

The smaller version places the numbers beside the skull peg and therefore is more compact. I think I will go with this one.

You can place the counter behind the unit, but in the swirling action of combat it might add too much clutter. I prefer the idea of blending it into the base.

A third option is to make a troop/regiment/ or horde sized base and have the counter built in. I think this will require too much work, but if demand was there it could be done.

Any thoughts? Is the side peg option too compact?

I really like the larger peg version! I do think the other is a little too compact, you want it to stick up far enough to be easily distinguishable. Very nice work

I've got some of those identical skull beads.

I used them to keep track of wounds on multiwound units in 40k (but then I stopped playing that game and they sit unused).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

I picked up the skulls at Hobby Lobby and found out they are made in USA. So I just needed a tracking system.

Here is a pic of the track integrated in to a base-

I can also just set them on a movement tray, although it fills up a lot of the troop sized unit.

Not really good for characters, but I kind of like the visibility of the trackers for units.

I added them to my items for sale- $4.50 per pack.

How do you do when an unit takes more than 10 points of damage ?
Maybe use a skull of a different color to represent damage over 10 ?
Red skull means damage +10 for exemple ?

I included more skulls than needed, so if you have 12 wounds put one on the 10 marker and another on the 2. You could use red ones, but I am just going to use extras. I guess if you took more than 19 wounds you could add a 3rd skull..................
