So the intro game version of 40K, Battle for Vedros was big news several months ago - the idea that pre-coloured plastic molds from older kits would be sold at a variety of non-hobby shops throughout the U.S. (and other countries, I'd imagine). Did this ever take hold? I saw a laughable announcement from them several months ago listing a half dozen shops they had planned to release at.
Did this whole product idea falter or is GW actually pursuing it? My main curiosity is due to my 9 year old nephew who's enjoying playing Kiddiehammer (if it's failing I'd like to keep an eye out for some cheap discount kits for his Space Marines).

There's BoV listings with in stock items on Amazon, but I don't see anything about them being pre-colored. Looks like they're just push-fit figures like from Macragge.

Yeah, which is odd. The promo material showed Orks as green plastic and Marines a blue (not a big deal). I've seen some on amazon, and some on eBay. Was hoping to find a hardware store ditching them so I could pick up some bikes for my nephew for cheap.

Got mine for the kids off amazon. GW really dropped the ball with his release. If you check their Vedros facebook page, they release what stores are now carrying them. Unforunately, its about 5 stores every 2-3 weeks spread out across the U.S.
And you cant order them from the webstore either. I was under the impression that I could walk into hobby lobby or something and pick them up. But with them only being released in about 40 stores across the US at the moment, I'd say they messed up pretty bad here.

Something tells me with the way GW does business they're probably not finding very receptive audiences at most of the non-gaming hobby stores. Reaper, were any of your contents pre-coloured on the sprue? It seems like they ditched that.

That being said, my 3 year old put them all together by himself, only needing help with the heads. And he and the 6 year old played 2 games so far with my assistance! Its a really great idea just poorly executed.

I doubt the models are precoloured for the starter box set as the marine sprue contains two of the orks (judging by pics online).
Perhaps the expansion boxes are coloured plastics?
Here is a link I found with some trade contacts:
https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Vedros-Retail
No sign of BfV on the Trade/retailer portion of the GW website. It seems impossible to stumble across, and pretty hard to find if you are actively looking for it.
Regardless,
If you Battle for Vedros all of your wildest dreams will come true!
