Hello Dakkadakka

So I recently got convinced by my mates that starting to play 40K again would be a grand idea

I have not played since... wow.. ehm back when eldar had special rules for their craftworlds. think it was 4th Edition, and I have not kept on on the rules.

I always wanted to play Dark Eldar, and since the models only got prettier I decided to go for that army, I know its a more unforgiving army, every Unit is specialist at something. I was hoping you could help me build a army, my goal was to get 500 point ready to play, but the first real goal is 1000 points I have already bought the codex plus the following:

1x Starter box containing
- 1 Archon
- 1 Raider
- 3 Reavers
- 10 Warrors

plus 10 Aditional warriors.

The meta people im currently playing with don't build super competitive list, they like to keep to the models they enjoy, in the meta the following armies are represented:
- Necron
- Space Marines (Black Templars and Ultramarines)
- Orcs
- Chaos Demons
- Imperial Army

I was hoping someone could help me out with how to use the models I have and what you would consider adding later on?

I would love to play with Incubi - Mandrekes - Helions and Scourges, at least I very much love the models

but any idea would be amazing

PS: dunno if this is the right forum to post this, hope it is

Firstly welcome back.

Secondly, i would consider someting like this based on the models you have.

Archon- Shadowfield, WWP, Blaster, Haywire Grenades - 155

5 Trueborn - 3 Blasters - 100

5 Kabalites - 40
5 Kabalites - 40
5 Kabalites - 40

Raider - Dark Lance, Athersails - 65
3 Reavers - Heat Lance - 58

498

archon joins the trueborn for deepstrike str 8 ap 2 fun.
3 scoring troops choices
raider in fast attack allows you to plonk whoever you fancy in it depending on opponent, you could even plonk the archon and truebron in there and use the WWp to deepstrike the radier too.

going on from here, first thing for me would be to get venoms for all units without transports.

not only keeping the army mobile, but bringing a LOT of extra fire power to the board.

Hope this helps

All anyone wants in the world is to be accepted. Except me, i don't give a S%@t.

Armies of Mixer
WHFB-Ogres, WoC, Lizardmen, Tomb Kings, Tzeentch Daemons, OnG

40K- Tau,Guard, Nids, SM, BA, GK, IK, DW

The Hobbit/LOTR- Evil, Angmar, Mordor

If you're just looking to use what you have I would run Mixer86's list, that will run fine in a casual setting and should be pretty fun.

If you're looking for another option a list here's one I've been having fun running lately that uses a few of the units you'd like to play with:

HQ

Court of the Archon - 10
- Lhamaen

Troops

Kabalite Warriors - 105
- 5 kabalites
- Venom w/ 2nd splinter cannon

Kabalite Warriors - 105
- 5 kabalites
- Venom w/ 2nd splinter cannon

Elites

Mandrakes - 36
- 3 Mandrakes

Fast Attack

Reavers - 63
- 3 Reavers
- Cluster Caltrops

Reavers - 63
- 3 Reavers
- Cluster Caltrops

Scourges - 115
- 5 Scourges
- 3 Haywire Blasters
- 1 Shredder

Total: 497

This list takes advantage of the absurdly cheap Court of the Archon at HQ to put out a lot of fast moving bodies at 500 points. I either put the Lhamaen in one of the Kabalite Venoms and leave the squad behind on an objective while you zip around in an objective secured trandport, or depending on the terrain placement and how mobile my opponent's list is is I'll hide her as far away as possible where it's not worth going after for the easy victory point. Another option would be shuffling the points a little for a sergeant upgrade on one of the squads to designate as a warlord instead of the Lhamaen.

Thank you guys

stuff to think about, what about if you should make a 1000 point list, like a first 1000 point list to start with and aim to play that for quite some time
