Good Day Fine Gents,

I'll be testing out my first Word Bearers list tonight at gaming and wanted to know what you all thought of it. I'm using the formation that allows Veterans as Troops. It's just a quick test at 1500 points but this is what I have so far:

Chaplain - Crozius, Artificer Armor, Refractor Field, Burning Lore
Diabolist - Power Sword, Artifcer, Burning Lore

19 Tactical Marines - Dark Channeling
Sergeant - Artificer Armor
Apothecary

10 Veterans - 2x Heavy Bolters
Sergeant - Artificer Armor
Rhino

10 Veterans - 2x Meltaguns
Sergeant - Artificer Armor
Rhino

9 Ashen Circle
Iconoclast - Artificer Armor

Looks good.

You are kind of shaky on heavy antitank, though - you've got 2 meltaguns and that's it that can realistically stop a contemptor dreadnought (okay, in theory you might roll up Molten Beam for your burning lore, but that's a 1/6 chance on by far the worse of the two disciplines).

A few meltabombs scattered here and there might be good insurance.

Where is a character with 'master of the legion' to unlock the Pride of the Legion rite of war?

That's what "formations" are called in 30k. What tactic are you using for your vets? Machine killer? Probably the best bet as you have melta guns.

Looks solid, but I agree, you are light on anti-tank.

Moving forward think about contemptors of your own, rapier batteries, maybe a lightning strike fighter or something that can sit back and pop tanks from range.

My 2 cents.

Rights of War have very little in common with most formations, and at 1,000 points, most rights of war aren't really being used to the fullest, sadly.

as for the list: at 1k, some AT would be nice, but I highly doubt it's manditory looking at the point scale of 30k. Additionally, while it may work at lower points, I highly reccomend not using vet. tactical squads as the core of your army as they are simply not durrable enough to do so. Another great upgrade, assuming you've got the points, is extra CCWs for tactical squads, 'cause while they won't have any AP, that's still ~60 swings on the charge.

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.
