Hey guys, I've just recently gotten back into 40k after a hiatus of many years. One of the first things I did was find a local store and check it out, its great...but not my age group. I'd like to find or create a small group for people in their 20's and up. I have an army ready for 40k, but I'd be interested in getting into new games as well. I am in the northern Denver/Boulder area, but have no problem going as far north as Fort Collins.

I did go by to check it out (which is always expensive for me). The staff was great and They had a lot of people there....they were about 14-16 though. I'm stoked to see younger gamers pick it up, but that isn't my ideal situation. Relearning the game is a bit rough. Until now, I've always had a core group of 3-4 people my age to learn new rules and such..with great patience over a beer or two. I'd like to be a little less ignorant before I hit local stores for pick-up games. The other hold-back is I work 3-11 often, including Saturdays. Ideally I'd have a few people I could arrange to meet at whatever store at a set time. I want the person I play to have an exact idea of my knowledge level, and at least some idea of what I'm bringing and what restrictions we'll use.

In my experience there are a lot of older people some young kids but the ones there are pretty mature

I certainly believe you. With their store hours and my schedule, I'm pretty limited. I could probably squeeze in two days a month. I liked what I saw there and I'll definitely give it another shot a little later in the day. I was just hoping to make a contact or two here beforehand.

The Denver GW on Colorado tends to have older gamers. There's also a Colorado Warhammer 40k Facebook group that is pretty active.

Thank you for the suggestions. I'm gonna have the same issue with GW store hours vs work hours, but it makes a lot of sense to check the store out. As a rule, I really don't care for facebook so I didn't even think of that. Maybe I should dummy up an account just to get in touch with the local community. That may be an excellent resource.

There is also Total Escape games, they meet on Thursdays and its a small group of about 4-5 people.
It is a bit competitive but I think that is the only store I can help you with.
Happy wargaming!

The Aurora Colpar hobbies has a group that plays after the store shuts down on Saturday, a good sized group of 40k players there is what my buddy says. He goes there for late night 40k when he can't make it down to play X-Wing with us in the Lakewood store on Sundays.

I know this is a bit necro, but I play at the Boulder GW store every weekend. There's a lot of college-age guys, and a lot of competitive as well as causal players, so you can get what you're looking for.
I'm also always up for games at HobbyTown Westminster, since it's 8mins from my house!
