So I don't have anyone playing Infinity in the area, but I see quite a few people interested in it. My question is, how do I go about learning other than reading the rulebook? Are there any good YouTube channels that walk through games, or possibly list-building?

I ask because when I look at the game, I'm held back by "Analysis Paralysis". I have a starter of Nomads but what do I bring with? What makes a Reverend Healer better than the Daktari? Which is the best sniper in my army and is it worth using him over a less good model?

Is it all just straight mechanics? Well the Alguacil has one less BS than the Securitate, but the Securitate has Sixth Sense, a Repeater and costs 18 points more. It's hard for me to figure out what's worth compared to the others.

Let them bestride the galaxy like the gods of old, sheltering Mankind from destruction at the hands of an uncaring universe.

Any time I have trouble understanding a game, I play against myself.
Take the rules, setup a game.
Play both sides and see the pros and cons of each side.
If you do not want to commit to the models Print out a picture of the model and fashion a stand or something.
Despite knowing exactly that your opponent is planning: how much does the mechanics mess this up?
What seemed effective?
What was a waste of points?
Unless you see and apply the rules it would still be a rather hard thing to grasp otherwise.
Playing these games takes a lot of putting yourself in your opponent's shoes.
Might as well make it a literal thing for now.

Good luck!

I had the same issue. The best way to learn any game (from infinity to 40k) is to play with someone who knows the game.

However.... corvus belli did something great to help folks learn.

If you own the operation ice storm or red veil starter sets, you will have two armies. The rule books in those sets have numbered scenarios with pre made armies that usually consist of 1-3 models. As you complete the missions, they add in different characters with more complicated rules. This is a great way to learn the mechanics and slowly add in the extra rules that make infinity unique (hacking, camo, etc). It also teaches you how to manage an entire force by adding in new units in each mission. By the last scenario, you will know the game and how to handle your small force. They then give you examples of what units would be good to add on to your force.

Pretty slick and helped me learn the game easily. The scenarios are also pretty quick, so you can easily fit a game in every night in an hour or less with the starter matt and terrain.

Good luck!

Do they have YouTube videos updated to working with N3, yet? While not always perfect, they help when models are not always available, or players to learn from.

Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound?

Gorilla Miniature Games on youtube has a ton of modern infinity playthrough videos with many different armies. Great fun to watch and Ash is a super guy.

I have the same issue here is AZ, there are no stores near by and the ones that where are all closed. I watch Beast of war, probably because they have Carlos the guy who created Infinity, play, or discuss everything with them. They do all the mission from Operation IceStorm. They have some Red Veil stuff too, but I haven't watched them.

The two biggest stores left both still have it, but they are in the far north end of the metropolis (a very spread out metropolis, I might add for those not familiar with here). Imperial Outpost has quite a large selection actually. Getting through traffic to get to either is a pain if you live in Mesa (like we do), though.

Games U is supposed to be opening next month, but I haven't heard what they are stocking. They haven't mentioned anything on their site or FB page, yet. There were a few Infinity players in the East Valley around before Empire Games closed, though, so hopefully they will.
