For a while now i've been sitting on a nice collection of eldar that have been waiting on paint and the ability to see the table top. I've been going back and forth as to what sort of scheme i had wanted to work on, taking inspiration from various sources online i was able to narrow it down to two ideas, so i have them a shot on some guardians that i had. In the end the red of Saim-Hann won out over its competitor and so i've decided that will be the army. Even though im not planning on the usual sort of craftworld force, IE, not all jet bikes, I just fine the red too nice not to have picked it out.

While i have a squad of guardians already painted up, i haven't taken any pictures of them yet, and i've been too lazy to drag them out to do so. What i do have though are my current WIP, a Wave Serpent and a Viper. Next steps are to paint the bottom of the serpents hull in black, figure out my markings, and then decided if im going to hit it was a coat of sattin varnish, or skip that step.

Nice vibrant red you have there. How did you get it?

You going to go with the classic scheme? So white helmets etc. and black chevrons? Or doing something alternate? I’m diverging with mine, and going mostly with a deeper red and black.

How big is this project going to be? Got a pile of shame all laid out, or still collecting?

Thanks for the comments Nevelon,

The red isn't too complicated to get done, though it is a little time consuming with the steps. First step was to get it primed with vallejo grey surface primer. Once that was dry i gave it a pre-highlight of vallejo model air white, with this i tried to focus more on the center of any panels, and sharp edges. Third step was a pre-shadow. Taking a wash of Nuln Oil and hitting all the gaps, crevices, and corners. Once that was dry my fourth step was to lay on the red, VMA Ferrari Red. From there, i went about my first highlight with VMA orange, which is a little more subtle then i liked, so i hit a second highlight that is roughly a 50/50 mix of VMA:Orange, and VMC:Golden Yellow. This is all via airbrush.

Now for the over all scheme, yes im planning that im going to stick it close to the classic scheme. My guardians have white helmets, I'll be adding the black chevrons as soon as i get some painters tape, though i am thinking i may lean more towards a straight line, diagonal across the hull, as opposed to the usual chevron design.

The project so far consists of..
30 Guardians
15-20 Dire Avengers
12 fire dragons
8 Warp Spiders
6 striking scopions
5 rangers
7 Warlocks
2 Farseers
2 Spirit Seers
4 vipers
4 wave serpents
2 venoms
1 fire prism
1 forgeworld avatar

And i may be forgetting a thing or two there.. i am planning to expand it beyond this too. Eventually.

I've stopped being lazy long enough to get a picture of several guardians. Aside from doing some gem work, and basing, they are finished.
