Does anyone have any general suggestions for things to include in lists for games to teach new players, I have a couple of people in our gaming group that want to try out X-Wing. They are pretty decent Magic players and have previously played GW stuff so can most likely deal with reasonably complicated rules but obviously I don't want to cause info-burn in a starter game.

Cheers

First games I tend to just go for the intro game in the core set (generic TIE vs a single X). Then add in the more iconic stuff if they are Star Wars fans, TIE Advanced, Falcon etc. Players who pick it up faster tend towards aces/arc dodgers slower ones get things like B-wings as its more forgiving.

Try 5 Tie f/o versus 3 T-70s with R2 astromechs. Not quite the 100 pts limit, yet plenty of ships to give it a proper game's feel, and low upgrades.

Agreed. Definitely avoid many upgrades. Start with xwing versus tie fighter, and once theyre happy, add in a single ace - iconic ones like luke and vader - to teach the idea of upgrades
