I've noticed that quite often the News and Rumours section often becomes a bit of a tangled mess. Currently, people will create a thread for a specific rumour or piece of news they have heard, and then this will snowball as the rumour grows and releases drop. As an example, look at the recent GSC release and the corresponding rumour thread. In some cases the original poster will update the first post as time goes on with newer rumours additional releases etc. But in other cases they simply don't have the time or inclination to do so.

Popular releases and rumour threads snowball in size, with wishlisting, naysaying, general discussions, etc etc to the point where someone just looking for the latest info hasn't got a hope of finding it without sifting through 20-30 pages of extraneous info.

Eventually once the release drops, in the case of GSC the codex, the thread descends into list building and rules discussions, and is essentially no longer a news and rumours thread.

Now all this is fine if you want to read through pages upon pages of discussion, or stay up to date with the site every day, but go away for three or four days and you are suddenly well behind. Then you get folks posting and asking to be pointed towards the latest info etc.

On a few other forums I visit, such as football, and some tv show specific forums, they will have a specific sticky for news only. With no discussion allowed, so any rumours, or info from our "in the know" posters could be posted there, and remain easily accessible.
In fact the football forum I frequent goes to great length to protect the likes of Sad Panda and Atia, as well as anyone who might have new info from trolls etc as well as anyone who might reveal their identity and cause them issues at work etc. (Anyway I digress)

I think a stick thread would keep things tidy, and on topic in N&R.

History has shown us two things in regards to such an idea here:

1) Few people read stickies

2) People want to comment on N&R stuff - a lot!

It would be great if the OP would keep the OP updated, but, we're all volunteers here, and we've all got lots going on IRL too...
