Am I missing something (quite possible, I only ever read here on an iPad), but it doesn't seem like the Exalt button does much of anything other than to perhaps give data to the mods. I know I shouldn't be comparing different websites, as they each have their own audience and function, which I appreciate, but B&C does it without much of an issue. what is the rationale behind having a button to like something without having readers see the likes? I get in some forums it might look like ganging up (politics comes to mind, groupthink could be an issue), but the positives might outweigh the negatives. For example, in the more seedy off topic forums, it might cut off problems with people feeling like they have to respond to "out there" posts if someone already responded effectively and it might lead to fewer off topic tangents. On the P&M or WIP forums, it could help to give initial posters better answers (if one response on how to wash vehicles gets more likes, for example, that answer might be better. Plus, more people might contribute. I know I have been tempted to add my voice many times in the P&M forums but the poster above me gave a pretty good answer, so my post seems redundant.) With a like visible, I could make my recommendation heard without taking the time to post what someone else already has done effectively.
I guess I am wondering why the Exault button doesn't do anything, and if we could get a change to it, even if in a limited trial form?
And guys, if you like this question, please leave a response, don't just Exault it.
