Hey! That's cool, a "can't touch this" mechanic in X-Wing via "Captured TIE"! I'll just pretend that Grima Wormtongue or Gollum is flying it.
Ahsoka is kinda neat with focus-token givers like the HWK, not that it'd be all that super good. The ARC with .... one of the Dark Jedi Knight characters might be good. huh. It's just a TIE Fighter, but a PS 9 Ahsoka being used as a Ion-bomb or something is an interesting idea even if Soontir, Poe, and Vader dodge it.

Nothing too exciting- Ahsoka looks like she could be useful Ace support with captured TIE and Vet instincts. Captain Rex, meanwhile, looks like a very annoying card to deal with, and a great filler ship at 14pt.

Rex acting as wingman for biggs is going to be annoying for only a small cost outlay..
Ahsoka on the other hand has somevery nice potential as a cheap support ship but also as a cheap dogfighter - she does not specify "another ship" so can trade a focus to evade or barrel roll herself if required, after even PS11 vader.
Devastating? No. But she's a 17 point TIE fighter. Devastating aint in the budget.
Zeb....well, he's provably better than an obsidian squadron pilot., and is a much better blocker than a bandit squadron pilot.
Meanwhile, Sabine is very good at positioning - combine with black market slicer tools and masterpiece title, and youve got a good sub 20 point threat to all the push the limit addicts.

Rex is going to be an interesting debuff, as his effect is persistent until he dies. You can hand off the debuff card to the enemy ace, then have Rex play hard to get for the rest of the match (and you're effectively only down by 14 points).

He has to continually attack the target each combat phase to keep the debuff on them though, which isn't going to be easy against arc dodgers like Fel.

I figure you can use Sabine's ability with PTL to move wherever you need to be on the board, clean your stress with a green maneuver and then use BMST to wreck face with someone else's stress?

You can indeed. But be warned that a TIE fighter's green dial is not amazing. With a free boost or barrel roll thrown in, a TIE fighters basic dial is probably good enough (slicer tools are range 2 and not arc-locked) - there's no need to throw expensive Elite upgrades on something that fragile.

First impressions:
Ahsoka Tano: kind of underwhelming? Support ships usually aren't good in X-Wing because they take up too high a percentage of your points. You're spending ~20 points to give a friendly ship a free action, at the cost of her own action. That's just too much. On the other hand being able to use her ability on herself is a pretty neat trick. Take focus by default, then convert it into whatever you want at the start of combat. But overall I just can't see this working.
Captain Rex: much better. He's a cheaper Biggs against a single target, that can be taken in addition to Biggs. Rolling one less attack die is absolutely crippling, so shooting back is almost mandatory. On the other hand Biggs is pretty good already and the common Biggs lists don't seem to have spare points for a TIE fighter, so where exactly is he going to go? And without Biggs "just shoot the TIE fighter" puts a pretty quick end to the debuffs. I suspect he's going to end up being one of those decent but not great pilots that could be useful in the right list, but struggles to find the right list.
Captured TIE: really situational, but at least it's cheap. The main problem here is that yeah, you can't be shot at, but you also can't shoot anything. So what are you going to be doing besides flying around saying "lol you can't shoot me"? Obviously setting up an attack has some value, but it's probably best to remember that cheap cards are usually cheap for a reason and consider this a luxury item that you only take if you have points free.
Captain Rex: garbage. You only get anything when you don't hit, and not hitting is how you lose games. For the same point cost you can get Rey and a far superior focus supply if actionless focus tokens is what you want. Or you can take an intelligence agent, tactician, etc, in that crew slot. I would be surprised if this sees any use outside the most casual and stubbornly fluff-driven of environments.
EMP device: not bad, but a victim of having too many good upgrades in that slot. Slicer tools, glitterstim, etc, are extremely powerful effects at a really cheap point cost. Is a one-shot ion effect that takes away your attack and ionizes your own ships (including the ship carrying the EMP device) really a better use of your illicit slot than taking slicer tools as a hard counter to PTL aces? When answering this question remember that, like most AoE abilities, the ideal situation where you catch multiple high-value targets in the AoE is going to be very rare. Most of the time you'll consider yourself lucky if you can ionize a single target before your TIE fighter is removed from the table.
Special bonus preview:
Blue Squadron Pathfinder: the point cost is the only new thing here, and 23 points is pretty competitive IMO. A 3/2/4/4 stat line with that upgrade bar would have been bordering on broken at 21-22 points, so 23 is about as expected. It's going to be a solid jousting ship at the least, and probably get a lot of value out of its large base footprint as a mobile asteroid.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. |

Is Captain Rex limited to one target? If I'm reading that card right, he can assign suppressive fire to anyone he shoots- and it lasts until he is unable to attack, or they attack him.
That should allow him to potentially distract several pilots over sucessive turns, and hold them suppresssed simultaneously if you can keep a TIE fighter alive.

I think the original spoiler for Wave X (from planet 9) mentionned that you can only have a single copy of the same condition (I would guess per side) in play at the same time.

I tried:
Ahsoka with VI, captured tie, Sabine, masterpiece, cluster mines, slicer tools
Rex with Stealth device
Wedge with outmaneuver, r2d2, proton torpedoes
I was playing a quick game to try out the two ties.
Ahsoka dropping mines and slicing with impunity was fun, just requires you tie up their ace. Rex is annoying to deal with, but I messed up and thought I could suppress multiple people.
I think Ahsoka is great in this usage, especially if you can stress people. Not that she's better than anyone else in particular.
