Does anybody take Vorax to accompany their praevians? Just picked up a Narik Dreygur for my IW and wondering who he should have as his robot friends. Vorax look like a cheaper all round unit but more fragile while Castellax match more with the siege element but start being a pretty pricey squad once you start adding all the gizmos.

I've only ran the Castellax, but now being able to give them Furious Charge, Tank Hunters or Scout has been a pretty big buff. The biggest problem I've ran into is that they can eat up alot of points pretty quick at the 1500 points that I usely play. Mine are just base one with the Heavy Bolters and then I take other Scout or FC. But TBH I should of realy went with ones upgraded for melee.

My "low point" meta dose not favour this unit, they are better in the 2000-2500 range.

To me, vorax are best used to outflank into the rear of the opposing army and leave them there following automated protocols.

So i'd go with castellax - plus they are a compulsory troop choice for the legio cybernetica so they could also be an allied detachment to your main force in future...

The Ordo Reductor - the guy's who make wonderful things like the Landraider Achillies, but can't use them in battle..

Castellax are better in most circumstances.

Thanks, generally what I thought. The only way I could justify the Vorax over the Castellax really was that they were still a decent unit for cheaper. Generally play the 2k to 3k mark so castellax look to be a good bet, especially in those games I don't use Perty and need a scary close combat unit.

I had been considering mucking about with a tooled up Forgelord on a bike with rad grenades, servo arm and cortex controller and zipping him about with the Vorax.
