Hi all,

There is a local ladder style competition beginning in my area soon, of only 1000 points, so I took this as the perfect time to give my Grey Knights a run for once. I was hoping that I could get some reviews on this list I wrote.

The basic rules are that we have to use a modified CAD (no ObSec or required HQ and only 2 non-Troop slots), matches are played on a 4x4 board, and we get to select our Warlord trait, but it is locked in for the campaign and can't be changed.

HQ- LIBRARIAN- 165p
-NF Halberd, Curiass of Sacrifice, Storm Bolter, ML3

TROOP- TERMINATORS- 192p
-3x Falchions, 1x Incinerator, 1x Warding Stave

TROOP- STRIKE SQUAD- 132p
-1x Stave, 1x Halberd, 1x Psycannon

ELITES- PURIFERS- 149p
-2x Halberd, 1x Hammer, 1x Stave, 1x Incinerator

FAST ATTACK- INTERCEPTORS- 156p
-4x Falchions, Melta Bomb, 1x Stave

HEAVY SUPPORT- DREADKNIGHT- 205p
-Greatsword, Teleporter, Heavy Psycannon

TOTAL= 1000 points

Does this list seem effective in multiple game types? I forewent transports, due to the smaller board size and teleporters on my Interceptors and Dreadknight. Was this a bad decision?

I am willing to invest in another unit if the need arises, also.

After a quick look, my initial thoughts would be to drop the halberds from the purifiers, hammerhand will get them to S6 anyway, and get a psycannon or incinerator on the interceptors. You've only got 22 models, one vindicator shell or grav dev volley and you've lost a quarter of your army. Being able to appear behind key targets and shoot them down will help keep your models around for longer.

I might be tempted to drop the staves as well, I've found ap3 more useful than adamatium will, unless you know that you will be facing lots of witchfires, novas etc.

Good luck in the competition!

If you can select your warlord trait I'd rethink the build of the librarian.. if you have ML3 and the liber relic and the extra power warp charge you will be able to generate five of the six santic powers.. or roll three powers from other tables and have two guaranteed santic powers.. just to maximise psychic potential.

I also like running more terminators at this level, the strike squads are good but I feel terminators are more tactically flexible for grey knights, the dreadknight is good, I like interceptors with a locator beacon especially if you are deep striking terminators.

I never use purifiers so cannot really comment on them.

Accept any challenge, No matter the odds

I think you have the right units but need to change the loadout a bit to get the most of them.

I'd stick with a stave on the librarian as adamantium will should make a difference on him, the other units not as much. Curiass of sacrifice has never been of much use to me the few times i tried it but at a lower points game i cant't say, personally i'd go for the domina liber daemonica if you want a relic but i wouldn't take one at this size game.
May also be worth giving him a combi melta instead.

I assume the libbys going with the termies, if so i'd drop the stave from their unit,

Strike squads are a bit meh, obviously if you need to run a modified cad and can't find a way to get 2 terminator units they're your only option but personally i wouldn't give them any upgrades except the psycannon and have them as back field shooty support.
If you can find the points to get them to terminators i would, there's a lot more AP3 around than AP2.

I like the purifiers with an incinerator (have you considered 2?) i'm not i'd give them the melee weapons though, maybe falchions if i had the points but you won't.

Interceptors are a great choice, i'd take the hammer off the purifiers and give it to one of them, melta bombs are perfect.

Honestly i think your best bet is not taking a relic on the libby and giving the dreadknight a heavy incinerator, at 1000pts. dropping that torrent template and toasting an extra unit a turn is gonna be big.

Grey Knights - 3500pts
SKitarii - 4000pts
Ad mech - 2000pts
Imperial Knights - 1000pts
Black Templars - 3200pts
Genestealer cults - 1750
