Ollo wargamers, i've played a bunch'o' games now and was curious about some things that have been used against me in the past few months, the most unclear to me is melee combat and being engaged with out being declared on by a charge.

For example during the movement phase a model is moved within 1" of my unit, thus removing overwatch and immediately entering them into combat without their bonus +1 attack per model.
Is this bull or am i being salty.

Somebody's pulling a fast one on you there, that isn't remotely how assault works.

Models cannot be moved to within an inch of another unit, a charge has to be declared in the assualt phase and unless your pinned/gone to ground or the charging unit has something that would stop overwatch (such as Banshee Masks) you will always get to Overwatch.

There are ways for a model to be engaged without being in a unit that is Locked in Combat. It's challenging to set up in a normal game, but it involves two friendly units being really close to one another and one of them being Charged. A model that is Engaged, but not in a unit locked in Combat would not be able to Pile In. And depending on how you read "in combat", they wouldn't be able to Attack as they aren't included in the Initiative Steps.

Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound?
