So after watching the videos of Fatboynoslim I have decided to embrace the all Infantry lifestyle, so as to utterly drown my opponents in the blood of my own men. The idea is to have most of the infantry squads split up and maybe 3 or so of the Lascannon blobbed up next to the CCS to take advantage of orders and the regimental standard. Conscripts will take objectives and everyone else will spread out and be a target. The rerolling 1s of lasguns I think is the biggest part of this and will certainly do well to perform a death by 1000 cuts. The only real foreseeable problem I have with this list is I probably will not be able to place all my models on the first turn!

I think it would be smarter to do this as a CAD then with the formation. It is less flexible and you lose ob sec. I found that many times, my infantry is locked in combat for several turns on top of an objective. Priest or commissar keeping them there. I like putting a lascannon in my CCS. Even a mortar and MoO works. You can keep them out of sight and barrage people. Going with a CAD also allows you to drop the infantry squads to 40 or 30 men if necessary. Can save you a couple hundred points to be used elsewhere.

Thats where Im not sure about this yet, with so many bodies on the field I can simply deny objectives just from distance from the point alone. Having used this before but with mostly naked guardsman I can attest that the reroll of 1 on the lasgun makes a HUGE difference, esp when combined with the massed FRFSRF.

As for the CCS i wouldnt mind a MoO or Mortar but I plan to keep my CCS completely out of sight the whole game if possible and behind a screen of infantry

That's a lot of melta bombs, you could probably trim it down some, especially if you go with a CAD.

Give your PCS special weapons, they can take up to 4, its a great place for flamer or sniper spam.

Also volkov's cane is great if your CCS moves with blobs or is going to hide very near one.

You have 0 psychic support. One of the reasons massed guard infantry is good is because of force multipliers (orders, priest chants, and blessings) which make 6 point guardsmen much more effective. I would recommend 2 primaris (in the infantry blobs) and an astropath, rolling on divination and telepathy respectively. (though biomancy can also be a good choice sometimes)

Part of why I don't like pure massed infantry is that while death from 1000 cuts does eventually kill most things, there exist some things, which are very meta (most death stars), that simply won't die to 1000 cuts, in which case you're playing just not get tabled, which is obviously not ideal.

No- it's your turn to die.

I`m in the middle of putting togather an all infantry IG Catachan army myself, so all I can do is to approve the idea. One thing I`d do differently is to create dedicated HW squads instead of distributing HWTs across the infantry squads - sure, it`s great to have your HWs bubblewrapped with infantry, but you lose a lot of flexibility too. Also, it`s worth to consider giving flamers to PCS - they`re cheap, 3-4 flamers are your life insurace in case of an assault and if you plan to keep your command squads hidden you won`t be using lasguns with them anyway, right? Mortars are a good choice as well, as even if you keep them out of sight they can still fire indirectly.

The problem with IG heavy weapons teams is they are very expensive, not reliable, and die easy. 1 scat bike squad can wipe it. By combining infantry squads, those scat bikes will not touch the heavy weapons, probably ever.

A PCS with flamers works well when you include transports. My favorite method is a vendetta with them. They can hop out the back or wait until hover mode. Most people use cheap squads in the back to hold objectives. 4 flamers will typically kill those pink horrors or scouts.
