Subject: Imperial guard tactic questions

Guard Heavy Weapon Crewman
|
i have recently started playing imperial guard, and need some help fighting some specific armies.
For example:
1. Eldar (I'm playing against some people who just LOVE their swooping hawks)
2. Tyranids (Up against some carnifexes, a hive tyrant, haruspex, and tyrannofex)
3. Space marines (Mainly DA snipers)
4. CSM (Not sure what i'm going to be up against here)
I'm allying with a beginner thousand sons player, so if you have any advice for building my army to compliment the armies of the sons

What kind of models do you have?
Are you an infantry, mech, or combined arms kind of guy?
Because what you have is going to heavily influence what we tell you to bring.

Our local IG commander Fatboynoslim has an AMAZING set of youtube videos that he gives some good tactical advice in great detail, its helped me greatly improve my playstyle and I have been a guard player for almost a decade. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCItUjGqA1uKs0l80L-VaAjQ/videos

I'd second the use of infantry - particularly conscripts. eBay lots of preowned cadians to fill out the ranks!
Psykana division is great too. Particularly in and all infantry list.
I'd recommend wyverns, theyre currently one of the strongest units in the game (though obviously they only help you against infantry and AV10)
