Hello fellow Wargamers,

I'm fairly new to 40k (about 6 months), and just got my brother into the game. He decided to go with Space Marines - I've always been interested in doing a small Blood Angels force and thought this would be a great opportunity to do so, as they could work as an allied force for my brothers Space Marines. Recently I found a good offer to buy 15 Death Company Marines, a squad of 5 Sanguinary Guard and Dante. Also, I already got a BA dread (on sprue so it can act as any of the BA dread options), just because it looks awesome.

I'm just wondering: Can I create a decent allied detachment with the units mentioned above, or perhaps a few more units? Hope this post is in the right forum

Cheers!

Looking pretty good. Sorry if this is a noob question, but this detachment doesn't have any special rules or bonus, does it?
Also, assuming one would play unbound, does that mean allies can be fielded in any way?

No, the allied Detatchment is pretty much the smallest thing you can run. It doesn't carry any benefits, and your warlord can't be in this detatchment. But if you want a small list to work alongside a main army, it's useful. If you wanted benefits, you would need another troop choice for a CAD or a BSF.
Unbound does not stop you from taking allies, in fact it helps because you're less restricted. It does, however, mean you can't take detachments like an allied detatchment or a CAD. You can still use formations though.

Thanks for your answer! If I've understood correctly, your proposed allied detachment seems to be very CC-focused, am I right in assuming this? Just to know what it would be like to play
