I was not expecting Arkhan Land is be such a dude.
I love that he gets annoyed it's called a 'land raider' and not 'land's raider'.
The monkey bit was hilarious.
Loved the legendary daemon name drop.

Added a few now that I'm past the half way point. No where near enough Emperor so far.

Finished it this morning. Whilst I think it didn't have anywhere near enough of the Emperor in it, it was still a very enjoyable read and sets up the final phase well, with a lot of subtle and not so subtle tie ins with the 40k universe. Well worth a read, but don't expect it to be all about the Emperor, he is present for only about 10% of the story.

That moment of realization when you see that Magnus screwed over humanity more than Horus or Lorgar combined.

Horus wanted the Imperium, Lorgar wanted its soul, Magnus murdered the imperium... and still the emp didn't want him dead.
Oh... and Dat Sword!

well, I mean he didn't MEAN to murder the imperium, it was kinda a by-product of panicked "oh man I need to save everyone"

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field. |

Yeah but he didn't. If he'd kept his big red nose out of it, the Emperor wouldn't have been committed to the webway and would have just spanked the rebellion down pretty quickly and carried on with his plans. Magnus made it in impossible for his plans to ever be realized, although obviously he wasn't aware of that.
I'm kinda hoping 40k Magnus is playing against chaos and intends to fix the breach he made. It'd be very Tzeentchian of him if he ended up still being on the Emperor's side.

you and me both on that last point: he's never been shown as pro-chaos, just anti-space wolves
As for the rest: another MUCH easier solution would be as follows: "Hey, Magnus, and other sons: Chaos is bad, M'kay. so Imma go build our own webway."
BOOM most of the heresy is dealt with, right there, before it happens

Most of the heresy can be prevented with basic conversation skills and thinking.

So, now that I have my 30 custodes, do you think some kind of Eldar themed bases would be appropriate after reading Master of Manning? I mean, most of the ten thousand did fight and die in the webway...

Absolutely.
Bonus points if you can successfully model a low lying fog.

Maybe cotton balls soaked in yellow food colouring?
The only problem is it might look a little cheap...

Yeah it went live last weekend I think, or the weekend previous. Kindle edition was available for download when the preorders went live.
@Crazyterran it would look good, they are essentially stuck in there. Most of the scenes in the book happen in a man made city with a few dodgy tunnels leading away from it, so sector imperialis bases, or a mix of the two would look good as well.
