Subject: [1750] - Blood Angels - Campaign list - need advice

Hi everyone,
I am trying to make a list ready for a campaign at my local gaming group.
it's in the 1750 phase and all formations are now allowed.
here's a list I have been thinking of using some of the new BA formations
how viable is this list?
Any advice or tips are welcome
+++ BA FGC PHASE 3 (Warhammer 40,000 7th Edition v2011) (1750pts) +++
++ BA Lost Brotherhood Strike Force (Blood Angels: Codex (2014) v2000) (970pts) ++
+ Core (845pts) +
"Death Company Strike Force" (845pts)
Death Company Chaplain [Crozius Arcanum]
Death Company Dreadnought [Blood Talons, Meltagun and heavy flamer, Smoke Launchers]
Drop Pod [Storm Bolter]
Death Company Squad [10x Bolt Pistol, 8x Chainsword, 10x Death Company Marine, Jump Pack, 2x Power Weapon]
Death Company Squad [5x Bolt Pistol, 4x Chainsword, 5x Death Company Marine, Jump Pack, Power Fist]
Death Company Squad [5x Bolt Pistol, 4x Chainsword, 5x Death Company Marine, Jump Pack, Power Fist]
+ Command (125pts) +
Death Company Command (125pts)
Death Company Chaplain [Crozius Arcanum]
+ No Force Org Slot +
Relics and Detachment-rules [Codex: Blood Angels]
++ Combined Arms Detachment (Blood Angels: Codex (2014) v2000) (405pts) ++
+ No Force Org Slot +
Relics and Detachment-rules [Codex: Blood Angels]
+ HQ (125pts) +
Librarian (125pts) [Bolt Pistol, Force Weapon, Jump pack, Melta bombs, Psyker (ML2), The Veritas Vitae, Warlord]
+ Troops (280pts) +
Tactical Squad (140pts) [Heavy flamer, Rhino, 4x Tactical Marine]
Tactical Sergeant [Bolt Pistol, Power weapon]
Tactical Squad (140pts) [Heavy flamer, Rhino, 4x Tactical Marine]
Tactical Sergeant [Bolt Pistol, Power weapon]
++ IK Oathsworn Detachment (Imperial Knights: Codex (2015) v2004) (375pts) ++
+ Lords of War (375pts) +
Knight Paladin (375pts) [Heavy Stubber, Reaper Chainsword]
I was thinking that the strategy here is alpha strike, with the LBSF having basically a scout move means that there is a potential first turn assault
with the dread dropping in their lines to split fire and cause panic whilst the DC with Chaplin and lib will haul ass into the assault with the knight and
rhinos following close behind

S'up Boomer. I have a very similar list except the CAD. I am still experimenting on the best load out, but I opted for grav bikers in the auxillery as grav is another solid shooting threat you opponent must deal with. Plus that grav is on a fast platform. I mention this specifically, as I notice there's not much to handle Monstrous Creatures in your list besides the PF.
Also, in the auxiliary of the LBSF I took one speeder for objective capturing. It just stays in the back field to capture points. This worked out well.
I tend to favor the Warden over the Paladin as i am unlucky with scatter dice. But also, the Warden can easily haul point out light vehicles. That gatling cannon is a very versatile weapon with Rending too. I have only played one game with my configuration so far, but I found myself wishing I'd taken the Stormspear Missile Pod just for a chance at an additional glance on a vehicle. I imagine you'd want to, more so, since that paladin is only a 2 shot animal - but perhaps your taking that for hordes and I am missing the point.
Last recommendation - I would pay the 15 extra points for the Lucius Pattern Drop Pod. If you are playing in an official tourney, they may not like you using a normal drop pod as a "fill in", but I do with my friends. That drop pod does not make your dreadnought disembark immediately, and it is an assault vehicle. Drop that into your enemies lines, and now they have to use resources on either this 12 armor pod, then deal with what's in side, OR fire at your 3 squads of DC plus your knight all about to assault on turn 2. Either way, a DC dreadnought left alone can cause major damage to his/her back line and I find this to be a better way to propose multiple threats to your opponent. If your counting that is 5 possible threats on turn 1, with all 5 having a real possibility of charging on turn 2. Obviously, I am speaking in generalizations but the more threats you have at one time, allows you to punish your opponents decision making.

S'up Ant, thanks for the tips. I had forgotten about the knight warden and he does fit the theme a lot better and I am expecting to fight mainly CSM but there are 2 possible orc hordes as well so it could be either and the lucius drop pod has also been included now . And I like the idea for the bikes and I may look into them more.
You're right and I am concerned about MC and AV14 now you mention it. So I may take the rapid assault force with 2 melta pods and maybe a bike squad as the final FA option? and swap the CAD for it?
How has the LBSF worked for you so far?

Also consider an errant over a paladin. 2+ elite infantry is not something the DC wants to see, and the errant makes them go away. You will also be encouraged to push the errant up the field with your DC.
I don't use the CAD with my LBSF, either. I just use more elements from the LBSF like MM attack bikes, etc.
My perfect incarnation would include a DA support squadron to protect the IK from deep strikes.

Errant would be an idea however I am more concerned that by turn 2 or 3 the risk of scatter would be more of a negative. But you are also correct that a 2+ enemy would cause issues. hmmm...

Blobs of meganobz and terminator squads are pretty easy to hit with a blast because they are fat. I really don't like the paladin because it encourages you to keep the chainsword far away from the opponent. I"m basically using an errant as a gallant+ in my list. Pop off a couple of melta blasts and then chainsaw faces with Str D.

Automatically Appended Next Post: Here's the updated list, swapping the CAD for a RAF w/ 2 melta pods and a bike squad, sadly I couldn't afford the gravguns for the bikes :(
I am still unsure about the errant, the large melta blast is very nice and will keep my opponent suppressed but if I can get the points for the grav bikes it may be worth keeping him as a warden in case of blobs?

Update:
I have playtested this list now against a pair of chaos players I had substituted the CAD detachment back in due to model shortage and kept the knight errant and I can't say I noticed any main weaknesses in the list besides my lack of range and reduce enemy numbers who are not within assault range as they had a number of Havoc autocannon squads pinging me from my flank.
I lost the game but my opponent was on the ropes the entire game and only turned it around with a turn 4 DS'ing Abaddon and co with rapid fire plasma which devastated my main DC unit w/ chaplain and librarian who had just failed their 2nd 7" charge and were left in the open . However, I failed many assault roles and most of my DC never made it to close combat so if I had made 1 more successful assault role I don't think Abbadon would have been such a turning point.
