It’s HERE!

Guild Ball Season Three is here, with new nerfs, new rules, new guild plots, but not yet any new models. Some of the big changes include getting rid of multiple icy sponges (because no one was using that rule), allowing the team that loses initiative to gain 1 MP and lots of mascot changes. Full breakdown is here: http://midwestwargaming.com/guild-ball-season-three-rule-changes/

Look like extremely smart decisions. Nothing that completely changes the meta, but nice simple tweaks that help out a ton.

I was thinking about getting into the game. Played a demo last night of the quickstart book and figs. Gonna do another demo today.

Part of me wants to buy the 2 player starter but wow do i hate the brewers. Id rather any other faction.

Is it still worth buying and possibly trading them for another or selling them off?

I sqw going forward they are doing hard plastic. Is that just in future sets like the farmers or will they do holder sets in plastic

The starter set is a good way to get into the game if you have no gaming experience or don't want to put extra leg work in, but it isn't essential. All the rules and tokens can be downloaded for free from their website and it doesn't cost much to make your own pitch. The big advantage with the box game is you get two teams in plastic and all the tokens for about the price of what one metal team costs.

At the moment we can only speculate what direction they are going to take with plastics. The new Farmers guild is going to be plastic and they've already stopped making resin models. We suspect they are going to make the older teams in plastic later this year or at the start of next, but that's just guess work.

I assume this timeline refers to next month? I believe at Steamcon someone was told they wouldn't likely see old teams in plastic until 2018 at the earliest.

Sorry, was already in next year in my head. End of 2017, start of 2018.

So, I picked up a box, and I gotta say, those are really good for boardgame plastics.

Considering it gives me 2 teams, a pitch, and bunch of other stuff useful for playing overall, it's a good deal. Sure, everyone will now have a masons or brewers team, but you can get more variation with Season 2 and 3 players.

Im glad to hear the plastics are good. I got into the game at Adepticon last year with the metal models and I was a little nervous when I heard about the plastics.

So far the balance seems to be pretty great and also, unlike warmachine which can cause me "unpacking inertia" I never have any difficulty pulling out 6 models to play a gain.
