How is it? Is it good? Are the missions fun? Is it worth buying?

I loved most of those expansions and the updated versions (campaign supplements) were pretty good.

While I loved the old City Fight, the newest Cities of Death Maelstrom card game is actually really awesome. I like it far better than the standard Maelstrom of War mission games.

What I'd like to know is --- are these rules actually updated? ...or just re-prints from the new-ish Campaign Supplements?

Nope, they're trash. They're stripped-down versions of the old Planetstrike and Cities of Death expansions, and pretty much just "here's a new deck of maelstrom cards, forge a narrative about a city or something". The old expansions still work just fine, and one of the FW Heresy books has an updated Cities of Death (in all but name) variant from around the same time that is much better.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Well this is totally wrong. Planetstrike isn't really stripped down in any way that affects the gameplay or narrative and it doesn't use maelstrom cards. And Cities of Death IS indeed simplified, and does use a new set of cards, however there are still missions so the "forge the narrative" comment is totally bogus.

The FW HH stuff is awesome I totally agree, and like I said before I really loved the old City Fight with Strategems etc... but the new version (with the cards) is just so easy to start playing and is actually really fun. It would even be suitable for 'pickup games' without having to learn a whole bunch of new rules or heavy pre-game planning.

What "new version" of City Fight are you speaking about ? I have the old one, with the stratgems etc.. (and it's pretty good !).

And: in which of the HH book are there City Fight like rules ? I knew for Zone Mortalis but not this.

Do you recommend me buying Planetary Onslaught, if I haven't PlanetStrike yet and only the old City Fight ?

In book 6 Retribution there are rules/missions for City Fight and they are awesome.

Oh sorry they're actually in Conquest book 4... just flipped through it. This book also has the best Campaign system ever created for Warhammer. It's specifically made for 30k but works with almost no adjustments in 40k too.

Is it worth the 40 bucks? I am thinking about picking it up myself. I love city fight games.

"Do you really think 7th edition was the best edition?"

"Yes, and I'm tired of thinking otherwise."

I own the book.

Its a great book. It contains fun missions, detachments and rules all GW terrain as fortifications excluding the newest ones but including rules for ruins and the GW forest.

It is hover nowhere close to the content of the old cities of death book. Sure there are some stratagems but these are a single table and there is no hobby section in the book.

No. Not even close there are only 20 pages of city fight in the new book and half of those are pictures of unconverted models.
If you want to play city fights you are better of buying the old book at ebay.. This book - > http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-P1vr7KtX2-8/VcPDSkoJ7TI/AAAAAAAAAeQ/QgFHriHNTdM/s1600/Cities_of_Death.jpg
Or if you want to use the new rules do these adaptations and you will be really close to the new book.
-Ruins can now be bought for 20 points as fortification and use the exact rules as in the rule book.
-Use mealstorm missions but label 6 buildings / ruins as onbjective that you can only capture if you are inside.
