Hi all, I'm a returning 40k player from Hertfordshire, I "played" the game around 3 or 4 years ago but I never really learned the rules and I was only really interested in the cool miniatures. I'm looking to get back into 40k and actually learn how to play the game, I have some space wolf units but I feel like normal space marines are a little too flimsy for my taste, is there an army which will let me have loads of really beefy guys, for example 20 terminators or a load of dreadnoughts, I also really like the look of imperial guard, but mass units isn't really the sort of game plan that I'm looking to play, is there another way to play imperial guards or is a huge army your only option? Also I'd prefer to play a faction which is part of the Emperium. Thanks for any replies!

Thunderwolfs are pretty strong toughness 5 with 3+ invun ,space marines are the beefy guys. You could try iron hands as there is lots of ways to get feel no pain which makes them feel tougher

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

For a really elite, beefy army you might look at grey knights. You could also go with a death wing army, thats pretty much nothing but terminators, land raiders, drop pods, and drednoughts. Other options for Hard to kill would perhaps be Nurgle themed if you fancy chaos, or Storm Troopers if you want elite imperial guard.

Well, welcome back to the hobby and welcome to Dakka!
Yeah, certain SM chapters have tactics and rules that make 'em real tough, and overall SM is a pretty strong army unit-wise if you like the imperium.

I had a look at both and Death Wing look pretty cool, I made a quick list of pretty much just terminators, the cost stuff is just for personal referance so ignore that:

TROOPS - 440pts:
Deathwing Terminator Squad 1 - 220pts:
4 Deathwing Terminators - 176pts
1 Deathwing Terminator Sergeant - 44pts
Cost - £35

Deathwing Terminator Squad 2 - 220pts:
4 Deathwing Terminators - 176pts
1 Deathwing Terminator Sergeant - 44pts
Cost - £35

HQ - 215pts:
Azrael - 215pts
Cost - £12.30

ELITES - 345pts:
Deathwing Knights Squad - 245pts:
4 Deathwing Knights - 189pts
1 Knight Master - 51pts
1 Perfidious Relic of thje Unforgiven - 10pts
Cost - £35

Dreadnought - 100pts:
1 Dreadnought - 100pts
Cost - £28

Total Points - 1000pts
Total Cost - £145.30

Thanks for the suggestion! Any feedback would be great : ), I'm not really looking to be super competitive but I just wanna make sure that the army wouldn't be terrible.

Hi Welcome back.

Deathwing are popular right now, afraid can't advise on the list, but would look mighty fine.
